ok so, im just toying the idea around, I will not get rid of my car unless I absolutely cannot afford to keep it (unlikely but just in case,) I was wondering what a good fuel efficient replacement would be, that would be light and fun to drive? I have in my mind the Audi TT 1.8t quattro, but i dont think i love the interior

I am quite happy with my daily POS.... reliable and cheap to own... gas mileage is ok, not stellar but I didn't buy it for gas mileage.... 2009 Nissan Pathfinder. I needed something that had a 3rd row seating in case something happens to my wife's VW Eurovan (2003 at 100k miles) and I wanted something that could tow a car if needed..... I didn't want a BIG SUV like tahoe or burb... so that left me with the pathy..... I like it cause I don't care if it gets scratched, leaned on, door dings, etc... big stress reliever.....

so depending on needs I think something in the nissan line could work great and be affordable

Thanks Mark! That would be awesome
Yeah I think its just a sensor thing, cause it seems to come on when ever Im driving thinking "life is great", then BAM! A fakn ABS light LOL

Thanks for the input guys, I wanna take care of this before it becomes a habbit for my car.. I really dont like having a light turn on thats not a CEL or a Gas/fuel light! LOL

IMHO it's either one or more of the wheel speed sensors, or there is some damage in the module. The modules are actually pretty easy to take apart... I have pics some where.

Thats awesome! I wish they gave more information on how 1600mpg was achieved. I mean, my lady and I have been getting just over 600 miles out of one tank in her 04 TDI Golf. Which is damn good in my book.

^^ that right there, Mark, is makin me wanna get a waggen and hook it up. But I would have to get rid of the Passat First. Being in the Military and still on the move every 3-4 years, we can't afford to hawl 3 cars from one duty station to another.
Maybe once I retire I can finally start on some major car projects. Until then, I would have to keep the car count to 2.

I need more details. They over DOUBLED the normal mileage people get with these cars. I read the article earlier today as well.

My only guess is they really work the hills with that whole in gear descent. A few times in that trip they deal with some serious descents. They climb but the diesel torque handles that well. Imagine over that whole trip getting a few miles free with descents, that helps. Still insane though.

Joe - Sorry I missed this yesterday when posting the picture of the S4. It was just the piece that goes right into the ABS module. I unhooked it, tapped it out, used a can of compressed air to dust out the connector and pins. Clipped it all back in ... no more light brake light issues and she said she had to slam her brakes yesterday and that ABS worked like charm.

Guys we need to take some tripods and cameras down to that spot. Its off Lamar and Baylor Street (right before 6th if headed south on Lamar). From what I know by asking the folks living in the school bus just to the left of the S4 in the picture, they tore down the houses on this lot and teh owner has given permission to artists to come in and do their thing. Its truly an "Austin thing" as its not all gang tag, but rather some really awesome spray paint jobs depicting all kinds of things from political, to religious, to day to day life........pretty cool for this town in my book.

....and the daily driver thing ....here goes..... I had a new daily that I was keeping from everybody but its now sold back to the dealer I bought it from based on "lemon law". Its a long f-ing story so i'll tell you in person for those who care to hear the bull isht, but I had a 2000 Lexus IS 300 that I got for under $9000 and less than 100K miles. Torque converter decided to take a isht on me less than 3 days after driving it home. I found out from Toyota the car had transmission problems right from the get go all documented by Toyota. Dealership I did a deal with will remain nameless but they took up the fight on the Lemon Law stuff with the state of Texas and just gave me a full refund since the cashier's check I gave them had not even processed yet and I threatened to cancel the check entirely. Again full details can be had if you really care to know when I see ya in person. The is300 is still a great car with an awesome engine, so my hunt for one continues as my new DD.

Bummer Mark, I have been in love with those cars since I sat in one at the NAIAS in Detroit. The gauges are to die for and the looks are way ahead of their time. The car still looks new!

haha you'd be the first to have dibs charles lol. the only mk2 i would get for my DD would be a red cabriolet with a white top, keep it stock as possible (aside from a few basic mods) However, I have a spot for the A3's but eh. oh and mark, i was actually thinking about an is300, i saw one driving the other day and thought it was pretty sick looking, ive just never driven one. I would kinda feel like i betrayed my car if i got something other than a VW

Morio, the TT is heavier? thats a shock, but i guess "luxury" has a price

They are really Mk1's; The clipper kit ones do look more like Mk2's though...
