Bought all my hoses, clamps, elbows, and vac lines to redo my pcv system, I'm also going to remove the evap, sai, and n249.

I'm still looking for some resistors, a block off plate, and a catch can.

I hope this damn thing runs good after this, I'm tired of playing mechanic, I buy vehicles to drive, not to work on them.

It's a VW, what did you really expect

Early reports said 3-6" of snow here Friday afternoon, now it's freezing rain then 1" of snow.

How freakin' hard is it to consult a psychic and get the real forecast?

I think we're going to luck out up here tomorrow, but we've got a decent shot at some more snow on Sunday and Monday... It's ok though, snow = $$$

Picked up a 36-1 wheel from ebay for Megasquirt ($40 shipped from UK) - just need some VW coil packs and a (V)ariable (R)eluctor - then I'll have COP.

Well... The snow is falling hard, and it's 7 PM.

This means I have no Friday night tonight, and I'll be plowing snow.

    Damn.

    We've already got almost 2.5"

Well I started plowing snow at 1 AM this morning, it's now 3PM and I'm done.

I think I'll have a beer, followed by as many as I can put down before I pass out from either exhaustion or being drunk, or both.

I have been snow plowing since thursday. Just finished. Cruising around in a dirty hoe is profitable.

Merk, are you guys at Caddy needing some snow removal? Let me know.

Mc Donalds wasted a corrado making a commercial for the superbowl. Cool to see them use a corrado. Bummer that they wasted it.

I want a hot water extractor so I can really get serious cleaning carpets. Fortunately, non of my cars ever get that dirty.

I've got a Porter cable and a Cyclo polisher with many many different pads. I use Meg's, Gloss-It, and Einzett polishes. I've been playing with the CTS and I think I did some pretty good paint correction last year.

Last year I also took a friends clapped out, faded out '91 Honda civic and made it shine like new. I think I'm sadistic because I thought it was fun. I spent 2 days on the paint correction.

I'd put some pictures up, but I have no idea where to host pictures anymore. My source for hosting doesn't work anymore

Forgestar F14's, I went with them because they are light(around 17 lbs for 18x8.5), cheap, and they do custom offsets, 37 in front, 32 in rear.

When it gets warm out, give me a shout. You can come help . I have two polishers. I'll show you how to use them.

So I have been thinking lately that it might be cool to buy something old and fix it up versus buying something new. I have been thinking about getting an old A1 or A2 golf. How hard is it to find one in decent shape?

I was thinking about finding one repainting it, rebuild engine or doing an engine swap, re-do the interior, and of course, wheels, suspension, yada yada. Basically, doing a resto-mod restore on it. Do y'all think it would cost a fortune to do that? I'd basically be rebuilding it as a daily and not a show queen. I'd want to drive it.

I have no idea what something like that would cost. Anyone have a ball park figure for something like? Keep in mind, that I have no skills, LOL. I can basically do electronics, wheels, and suspension. The rest of the work would have to be farmed out.

Or do I just say the hell with it and just buy my MKVI GTI?

    Well Man, Looks like this:

buy the car for less than 500
    Strip it down 0
buy a good motor to swap 500
    standalone engine management 500-700
    New injectors 200
    Paint materials 200-500
    interior carpet new 100
    interior seats 250-?
all new rubber and seals 200+
    new windshield installed 100
    New controlarms/bushing/ball joints 250
    New axles 200
    New clutch 200-350
    wheels and tires 750+
    headlights 100
    bulbs 50
    random hoses clamps/seals/gaskets 150
    Coilovers 350+

Yeah this shizz is most of it. I have been helping out a bunch of mk1 guys through the years and have the prices figured out.
First of all GET RID OF THE FACTORY INJECTION. That stuff either works or doesn't. I am fighting that now.

So that's just for parts, but I'd need help installing all of that stuff. I remember your purple A1 or A2, I can't remember, I loved it..well, except I'd need more interior than you had in yours, LOL. The parts price is ok by me, do you think I could do the whole thing for ~$10K? Car, labors, parts and all? And then, how/where would I find one? LOL.
