    I don't think there is a 30v VR6. Only 12 and 24 in the true VR6 setup. Must be the Passat/Audi V6.

That must be a regular V6 not a VR6. Do you know the engine code for that application?

Snap! You guys are right - it's on a Passat - I didn't realize VW / Audi made the VR6 and a conventionally spaced V6.

    We bought this thing new...

Funny thing is that it's still kind of fun to buzz around in every now and then.

One clutch, a couple alternators, batteries, thermostats, oil every 5k.

I did a 5x100 swap on my GTi. It took MK3 VR6 front knuckles, front rotors and calipers, VR6 rear disc spindles, rear rotors and calipers. And a little machine work on the front knuckles to work with the MK1 struts. The rears are a direct bolt on.

I'm surprised the old mechanical odometer worked for that many miles!!!

So no engine work??? My 1980 Jetta had 225,000 miles when I traded it for my 1989 Jetta.. I put about 240,000 on the 1989 Jetta.. Didn't open up either engine, and both were still running the original clutches!! Used Mobil 1 in both of them.. Changed the oil when I felt like it...

Yup, everything in the engine is original. It leaks a little oil, and burns some oil. I'm sure it could use a massive cleaning/new gaskets/etc.

It's not really worth it. The trucks worth almost nothing now. It runs great, the engine bay is dirty as hell, drive it into the ground.

As long as we change the oil and it goes down the road, who cares.

We got rid of a 1989 Chevy 1500 2WD 5.7 a couple years ago. Bought that truck in 1994 and sold it with 493,000 miles on the clock

I'd say we got our money out of it.

PSS9s are pretty bad ass but if you wanna spend a little less Koni's are the way to go. I had Koni's on my A4 and they rode incredibly well even when they were fully dumped. Excellent highway ride with outstanding cornering. DS: hooked me up, too I've heard PSS9s are much stiffer than Koni's; could be a good thing if you want that extra handling.

Get new upper control arms if you plan on being tucked. The adjustable bushings from TMAC don't adjust enough at those "altitudes". Custom Performance Parts and Stern make some at "heart stopping" prices. Then again you might get away with more often tire rotations and/or tire remounting side-to-side if you run Bi-directional tires.

Modified by BLKBOX at 5:14 PM 4-5-2010

I'm going with sterns I think. Pricey, but what the hell, it's worth it. Thanks for the Koni review.

199 were made/avail as 05, sedan, 1.8t, AWD and 5 speed. What color is it? What interior?

I can drill down even further

They were all GLS models avail with leatherette/leather and cloth options.

Reflex Silver, charcoal leather(ette). I think 7 were produced in this color combo total. When I began this journey, I realized pretty quickly how few there were out there, thus the drive to pennsylvania to get it. There is a black 05 on Passsatworld right now in Michigan.

Not too bad considering it's just a koni spring/shock combo

I did notice however, that the front sits a little higher than it did before, and I think it's because when I replaced the upper strut mounts, the new ones were a bit taller than the older mounts. I might take the spacer out, but I really don't care to take apart my suspension for the fourth time in a two month span

There were 11 in your trim ever made like that in 2005. I found a variant like that once, but it was too far away and they were asking way too much.
