That is wrong on so many levels. Poor kitty should be laid to rest, not mistreated like that.

I just came across these on Youtube. Poor little guy is so cute. It's amazing how well animals adapt.

We have a new kitten! A very special new kitten. I wasn't looking to get another cat right now but you know how these things just happen.... About two weeks ago a kitten without back legs started coming over to eat with the other feral cats at my dad's work. My first few trips to attempt to catch it didn't work out. Then Thursday (5/31), We went to see if this was the day we could catch it. The kitten was cowering in the bushes and I climbed into the bushes and pulled the kitten out. We brought the kitten home and I set it up in our hall bathroom, exactly like I did with Trixie & Pixie two years earlier. Friday morning (6/1) I took him to our vet as soon as they opened. Our vet said she has never seen anything like him before and he is amazing and that it's also amazing that his mother took care of him even with his handicap. She examined him and he is a little boy, approximately 6 to 8 weeks old and it in really good health. Two xrays on him showed he was born with no pelvis or back legs. We let him walk around the room for a minute to see how he moves. He positions his front legs at an angle towards the middle of his body and balances his backend in the air with the use of his tail touching the ground if he needs it. He gets around really well that way and is pretty quick too. The xray also showed that his insides were not malformed, last was the feline leukemia test. He's came back negative. So we got him vaccinated, dewormed and a little flea meds and unless we have any problems with him, he goes back to the vet in three weeks Now, he is home getting comfy in his little bathroom and will be there for a while till he is bigger, stronger and ready to be socialized with the other cats and our dog. He is such a sweet calm little guy He is happy to cuddle in our laps and purrs really loud. He likes to play with a little toy mouse and also chase a beaded necklaces around on the floor. We have decided to name him Anakin and will be calling him "Ani" (yes after Anakin Skywalker )

    So I've been doing some research, and I have come up with this conclusion;

I have two cats, one is about 4 years fairly large black cat, big time hunter.

Then my Russian Blue is 1 years old, smallish, with tons of "primal" behavior. She eats the **** out of bugs, climbs trees, typical Russian Blue.

The Russian Blue does not bury its poop and we do not think it knows its name, or just ignores it 90% of the time.

Does that mean she thinks she is alpha? My Bombay, the 4 year old black car, is completely indifferent and used to other cats, they are kind of friends but the Bombay never shows any dominance, or subservant behavior, just indifferent.

    Both a spayed females.

    Ideas?

I taught my lil guy to cover his poop. Right after he finished his steaming hot bidness, I'd cover it (w/scooper).
He gave me a puzzled look & then I could see the light bulb turn on. Now, he covers his stuff like a boss!

Do your cats have access to a high perch?
Alpha cats can claim higher ground to show dominance.
    Who eats first?

My Bombay is a mouse slayer, squirrel killer, & vole carnivore extraordinaire.
We were cat sitting for a neighbor & my Bombay knocked the other cat out of the widow ledge.
I'd call that a pretty dominant sign :-)

It is hard to tell on the food and high perch. They both kind of eat at the same time, we have two bowls for them so they basically just go to one bowl or the other, none of them claim one specific bowl. The Russian Blue does like to sit up high on occasion and gets jealous if the other cat is petted. My guess is since the Russian Blue is starting to get bigger she is trying to claim dominance, slowly but surely.

Yeah our Bombay destroys all life forms. Snakes, voles, mice, squirrels, etc.

Our Russian Blue absolutely loves eating bugs.

If the bugs are too high I hold her up a let her eat them.

    OMGZZZ STRINGSSZ!

rough morning for this little girl: i was walking from the bathroom post-shower to the kitchen to feed her, and she excitedly ran between my legs and tumbled. she's been doing it when i feed her, and i usually expect and shuffle, but in my tired state before work, i hit her. she meowed/yelped/hissed and laid down limp and kept screaming. instantly felt terrible and picked her up and her hind leg was limp and she went ape **** if i touched it. called the vet and brought her in and did x-rays. go figure, by the time i get there she's just slightly limping and ready to play. turns out it's just a deep bruise and slightly bloody nose from an abrasion. they gave me some steoriods to help her heal since she's still young (eight weeks now). also decided to go ahead and do her first shots/de-worm and all that stuff. good bill of health otherwise and they threw in a free bag of Science Diet. holy hell i wish i never have to pay for x-rays again: $360 total for the x-rays and the rest of the service.

Our new male cat loves his catnip-filled, feather-top carrot Kong cat toy. So much so that he jumps on our bed at 2:30 AM to play with it.

Our town just switched to the large, wheeled trash containers that are picked up by the truck and dumped in the back. It's overkill for the small amount of trash we generate in a week. But, they are great to get rid of other stuff.

I've had an old couch and rocking chair in the basement that I want to get rid of.

I was going to start ripping up the couch in the basement for the garbage tomorrow. The cats are down there now, and I don’t want them to see me tearing apart the furniture.

Cat has been mayor of Alaska town for 15 years

National polls show that voters all over the country are losing faith in their elected leaders. But the 900 residents of Talkeetna, Alaska say their mayor is doing a great job, bringing in tourist dollars and having served in office for over a decade.

"He's good. He's probably the best we've ever had," resident Lauri Stec tells KTUU. "He was just in the Alaska Magazine, and he's been featured in a few different things."

In fact, Stec hangs out with Mayor Stubbs most days at Nagley's General Store, even though she notes, "He's growling at me right now."

That's because the 15-year-old mayor is actually a cat, who was elected to office as a write-in candidate shortly after his birth.

"Their tour guides will trick them," fellow Nagley's employee Skye Farrar tells KTUU. "They'll tell them to go to Nagley's and ask for the mayor."

And with the power of social media, Stubbs is growing in popularity and drawing visitors to Talkeetna, who comes specifically to meet the feline mayor.

Mayor Stubbs has more than 2,500 Facebook fans on his page, nearly three times as many people that live in the town itself.

"Oh my gosh, we probably have 30 to 40 people a day come in who are tourists wanting to see him," Stec said.

Though residents say he's been taking the newfound fame in stride, with his major indulgence being a daily dose of catnip served inside a wine glass.

They might be on to something there. Maybe we should follow their lead.
