Aww, definitely a pretty kitty . Best of both worlds? Lol. Seems to have an awesome temperament. I'm trying to get Nuno to *not* make Ghillie into a fighter cat like Ranger lol

How is that funny? Do you pull the wings off of flies for fun, too?

Did you read that they died from that condition?

:gets off high horse: everywhere you search for this on youtube (goats or cats), it's presented as something hilarious and with little or no facts to explain what's really going on.

here's an article on the two kitties with the disorder: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11653848

poorly written cliff notes: "fainting goat syndrome" (found in goats and as a rare genetic abnormality, in the two UK cats) is a disorder where the animal's body reacts to panic or simply being startled by tensing its muscles. The goats tend to not die from it, but in the poor cats' case, the disorder also affected their respiratory system and one of the cats died from its panic episode.

our cat Ranger is super jumpy, so I can't imagine if every time he got startled, he'd have a good chance of dying

Actually, high horse is warranted. Had the moron simply read the caption, I know that's asking a lot these days, he would have seen that his statement was both idiotic and crude.

This was right below the video on Youtube. Not to tough for the literate to decipher, no?

charlie and spike were two kittens with myotonia congenita, otherwise known as 'fainting goat' syndrome. at the slightest sound or movement, the kittens responded by collapsing and falling into a rigid paralysis which lasted about a minute before they returned to normal. If a pin dropped they dropped too. This condition had hardly ever before been diagnosed in a cat, is rarely found in dogs and is more common in goats. The kittens were able to walk, but they could not run or jump. sadly they both died from this condition in October 2010

    hey cat folks,
i'm a little worried about my kittah .when i got home from work tonight i noticed that he was walking funny,it seemed to take him a good bit of an effort.the weird thing is--he doesn't lift his head up,whether he be standing, walking, sitting he isn't even able to look up at me when i talk to him. he is very sluggish and a little wobbly.i'm thinking that he may be in pain.is there some kind of weird illness that makes Tabby cats do this? he seems kind of slow moving and stiff.he's about 16 or so years old. there are no poisons around the house that he can get to and i haven't fed him any 'people food' or anything like that.
i've never seen him act like this and it's scaring me a bit
what do you think?? here's a pic of him from tonight 10:45pm --i'm going to make a vet appt. today as soon as i get to work(9/7/12)

it's not too unheard of for older cats to develop kitty cancer.. not to alarm you but behavioral changes like that could be from an illness or a tumor. it'd be worth it for your own peace of mind and kitteh's wellbeing to see a vet. good luck!!

One of my kitties started acting really abnormal once and I took them in... turned out the poor guy's tail was dislocated and I hadn't even noticed it because I was more concerned with his behavior. The vet picked up on it right away, though.

We just acquired a new kitten in my house. My dad works for an auto dealership and a guy came in complaining that he was hearing a strange noise from under his hood. When my dad opened the mans hood he saw this little black and white kitten sitting there so he decided to bring it home with him. That was two days ago and the little gal is doing great, she is already running around and getting into things that she shouldn't be. Also sense she has arrived at the house she has gotten a little belly on her so that must be a good sign.

Jasmine was prone to constpation. She would get a little laxative every evening. Used to buy Laxa-Stat online.

She would also be constipated that she would require a kitty enema a few times a year. Used to buy Pet-Ema Feline for her.

Brought home 2 kittens from Petsmart last week. Two males, litermates, very playful and bonded to each other. The gray one is a little more skittish, the black one is pretty friendly.

My new kitten is doing great. She is now running around and escaping from her little playpen we have her in so the dogs don't eat her. Also out other cat seems to hate our new kitten but we are hoping that will change here soon.

update on my cat~i took him in for observation and diagnosis yesterday.Doc took x-ray/imaging of him.looked ok,no intestinal blockage.he hadn't been eating or drinking much in the last week, so he was really dehydrated and they gave him some special food and water w/ electrolytes.he's doing better today.
Doctor just called and said that he just has a bladder infection.i need to go pick up his new medicines right now.since my cat hadn't been drinking his water he also hadn't been ingesting his thyroid medication~that's what is making all of this worse than it should be.

his neck injury seems to have just been a strange coincidence.last Thursday when i got home from work,i saw that my office chair had rolled into my dining room--i think my cat had fallen off of it while jumping up onto it,or jumping off of it--then fell and hurt his neck.kinda like when a person sleeps in a weird position and has a 'stiff neck' the next morning.he's getting around much better today

My poor kitty managed to split her claw No clue when or how she did it. I was brushing my teeth before work and noticed some blood on her head when she jumped on the sink. She's always scratching her ears and head (I swear, its like a nervous habit or something) and sometimes hurts herself but didn't see anything. Picked her up and didn't see anything at first then noticed her bloody toe. Luckily it was already dried but man, it looked painful. I probably wouldn't have noticed it though if it weren't for seeing the blood on her head (and even that was very little). She was walking fine and didn't seem to bothered with it when I looked at it. Though when I took the clippers to try to trim up part of the nail so it wouldn't catch again she was not having it.

Need to pick up some Kwik stop today just in case. Realized we didn't have any. Hoping she doesn't chew on it too much.

She tears through the house when she gets excited so I'm almost thinking that in her happy running this morning after my hubby left for work she got it caught on the carpet or something. Didn't notice any blood anywhere on the floor but honestly I was more worried about her than my carpet.

Oh, and here is our lovely Lily on a good day when she hasn't messed up her foot:

Those are pipe cleaners which had, at one point, been rolled in catnip, that is around her tail. She had her bottlecap so she didn't care at that point.
