Thread: DUBSTEP!!!!

I am curious if this track was done in Reason only? Or was Logic used?

Pretty sure Bar9's on a Mac with Logic. Doesn't really matter what DAW you use though. You can make sick tracks with any software/hardware. The best software in the world isn't going to make sick tracks if you don't know how to use it. I make everything in FL Studio. Started on Fruity 3 and then started chopping breaks in Acid and moved back to Fruity once they added clip tracks, which is basically Acid built into FL. Learn one DAW and stick with it. When you get bored and want to try something different...learn another DAW. All the producers in my area use different stuff. A lot use Reason. One dude still kicking live PAs with a TR-808 and about 8 other vintage pieces synced up.

Oh totally! I saw a live PA dub show and there wasn't a single laptop on the entire stage with 4+ guys ripping on dozen's of pieces of equipment. I realize it doesn't matter much as long as the beats are quality. Logic does seem to be the tool of choice however.

Only if you have a Mac and don't want to run any VSTs (Logic has no VST support). Although you can use a lot of other DAWs on a Mac like Reason, Cubase, Abelton, PC heads have a lot more options.

All DAWs pretty much do the same thing. I think whatever interface you can wrap your head around the quickest is what you should stick with. Obviously you don't want something that hinders your work flow. Depends on your writing style too. Some people like writing more with loops, some sequencing, some prefer writing hex with trackers, some want it all.

Thanks for the heads up dude! Good to see him with impressive releases. I'm such an audio snob that I really cannot listen to 64kbps audio. Wish it was at least 192kbps.

Caspa and Rusko have a very similar sound (they did a Fabriclive mix CD together I think)

Here is a 2 hour mix Rusko did for BBC Radio 1 a couple months back.

Loads of Caspa in the tracklist + loads of other similar artists.

whatever. you can say that about any non wobble focused track.

you can say that about any slower, rock tracks.

you can say that about any ladies track with female vocals.

    Ya, heavy duty.

So I'm kinda crossing genre's here but Surgeon (Warp Records, Tresor) is a techno god of yester-year (and that's not a misnomer, he spins hard ass techno) but he's currently mixing in dubstep into his sets and it works gloriously. Love this dude's sound.

Here's is recent Resident Advisor mix: http://deepgoa.wordpress.com/2...0302/

We used to always play dubstep when we were winding down from a roll party. The heavy dirty rhythms are great after a night of techno.
