Thread: How to enable Side mirror defroster?

    1. 11-15-2006 12:30 AM #1
Hi there I noticed when I put in Smoked Side turn sigles on the mirrors that the Mirror seem to have 2 wires going to them which makes me think its heated. I have a 2.5 jetta with the Sunroof package (package 2 I think). When i put on the Defrosting thing for the rear window, the side mirrors do nothing. Is my side mirror defroster broken?
Also my rear wind shield defroster one of the lines on the rear left dosent do anything. Is that broken too?

Mirror defrost is turned on by turning the power mirror nob so it's facing straight up.
(btw - there's a ton of good stuff in that neat book (aka - the manual) that came with your car )
If you have a dead line on the rear defogger, I'd take it in to the dealer - they should be able to fix/replace

I know on my car I also had to enable it with my VAG before it kicked in, but turning the nob that moves the mirror's to point ^ turns em on.

      this came up before...
      this should help:

like they said face it forward...you knob will rotate past the "L" "R" i dont believe it matters whether you rotate the knob clockwise or counter clockwise...
ive heard people suggest not to keep it there so you dont burn out the core... so when they are defrosted are dont need to be defrosted switch it back to the neutral position...

Ya thanks a bunch, I dont really look down at the little nob all I know its a little joystick L and R and once its adjusted I never touched it again. My logic told me that they should come on when the rear is enabled. Guess this is what happens when its your first VW , find little things here and there. Cheers
