So... with three whole movies they didn't cut anything from the book. Right??

Well, that's what "fans" whinged about when it came to LOTR.

Now, he is doing his best to please them... well, those "fans" still ain't happy.

As a big fan of Peter Jackson's work, I say bring it on!

Edit: Looks like they are bringing some stuff from appendices of TLOTR.

Yes they are. I am AMPED. You cant be a "fan" of Tolkien and not want to see as much of his writing as possible translated to the big screen by Jackson.

LOTR was superb.

All three films about the Hobbit will be as well.

The Hobbit has 1 short book to cover 3 movies.

I was at Best Buy the other day and they were showing Tron on a 70" LCD with Truemotion turned on. It looked so stupid and cheesey, I asked the salesman why they had it turned on and he said he thought it looked better. I almost called him an idiot. I am glad my plasma doesn't have that crap. from what I read a lot of the people that saw the 10 minute footage said it looked pretty bad compared to 24 fps.

You just have to get used to it. Right now your brain has learned that 24 fps = movies and that's why faster rates feel wrong. But once you get used to it, you won't be happy to go back to 24 fps choppyness and bluriness.

I'm not going to get used to it. It really looks like crap. I was at dinner the other day and the restaurant's TV had smooth motion turned on and I almost asked them to fix it. It makes everything look like it was filmed with a camcorder.

I'm not saying 48fps won't suck, but we simply can't compare to what we've seen on TVs and read online about the 10 minute 48fps demo. Let's all give it the 3 hours in the theater and provide our reviews on 12/14...

1. There is more than enough additional material in LOTR appendices which covers what has happened in Hobbit.

Tron is not a movie, filmed in 48fps. Anything upconverted/upscaled will never look as good as good.

Fact of the matter is Jackson is working with less than 1/3 of the material he was for the first 3 movies, but producing the same amount of content. It's a valid concern, but one I'm hopeful proves to be a non-issue.

I said I would hold final judgement until I saw it. I am just worried. They were supposedly going to show the 48 fps trailer before TDKR, but they didn't, at least in my theater.

There is enough material in LOTR to cover at least 6 more hours of screen time. It could have been 5 movies. Maybe 6. So I could see the Hobbit and the appendices/unwritten material making it to 3. They don't all have to be 3 hours either.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey arrives on Dec 14 this year as planned, and The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug hits screens on December 13, 2013, as was always the schedule for the second film. Then the freshly retitled The Hobbit: There And Back Again will be in cinemas on July 18, 2014.

Just saw the latest preview on an IMAX screen before Raiders of the Lost Ark. Holy **** this looks awesome. I didnt have any issue with the preview. Effects look awesome. Preview as very polished.

No doubt. My son is almost three.. so he'll still be too little even when the third one comes out. ...but at some point, I really look forward to watching all of these with him. ...but first, I want to read him the books
