Here are some pics of the WackyWabbit just before he went to his new hutch. Hope you enjoy, WWR.

I did keep my little buddy that I made from billet aluminum. He rode with me at very race

Totally awesome craftsmanship, everything just looks so perfectly planned out, and super clean. The car might be gone but you will always have the gift that lets you create machines like this.

Good luck to the new owner, hope the wabbit stays competitive

The new owners are Harry & Walt Puckett from Shelby, North Carolina. The father and son have been "hardcore" VW Rabbit & Scirocco SCCA racers for many years, and they have a wealth of VW "go-fast" knowledge.

Both of them have won several southeastern regional championships in the SCCA Improved Touring road racing series.

So the WackyWabbit could not go to be better hutch, plus Harry & Walt are good, long time friends.

    Cheers, WWR.

im glad to see that it is going to someone who will not go and destroy it. someone who will appreciate the work that went into it and use it for what it was built for.

    good luck with your mini.

sad to see it go, but you MUST share the progress of the mini!

is that... cant think of the name of it... brace? is that a wire holding it to the beam so it doesnt fly off if it becomes disconnected?

A Rabbit is not to be wasted on the tentative or weak. Only the worthy are invited, and then only at your own risk. If you have even a modicum of hesitation, DO NOT buy one of these cars. Instead, leave it for a worthy soul who has already matriculated to the sublime ecstasy of what those in the know refer to as a "MK1"

The bars are "stayrods" on the rear trailing arms. The braided wires keep the stayrods from digging into the track in the event of breakage.

Damn, there goes your handling, better raise it up a notch or two.

I'm sad to see it go but at least we got some new pictures out of the deal.
Your car is so amazingly clean and well built, it's a work of art. Thanks for sticking around and spreading knowledge even after selling it.

Best of luck with the mini, please abuse your forum elder status and put up a project thread.

Actually I had another 1966 Mini Cooper S with a white/black checkerboard top & tarten red bottom that got me interested in Rabbits and SCCA racing.

Then another friend raced a Mini Cooper in the SCCA GT4 class, and his Mini was about 1-1/2 inches off the ground. The Mini had 13x7 Revolution wheels with wide slicks and the extremely wide Fortech flares. It was a real "go-cart".

    Cheers, WWR.

    2 questions.....

    1. What is on your intake manifold? Is it paint or some coating?

    2. Is that a vent for your exhaust manifold? I'm talking about the tube along the passenger's side frame rail.

    Thanks.
    Good luck.

GT4? how much of "mini" was actually left?

I like your alternator bracket...how much movement does it have with that Heim joint?

  33. 11-17-2006 05:26 PM #33
are you using the stock shift linkage or did you build buy a different setup...??
