I'm not so sure on how this all works so I'll ask. I got my CHE stuck in third and was told to get rid of it. I did and the only thing available to me at the time was a 2Y, something happened 5k miles later and I thought it was the transmission I had just put in. As my luck would have it, the only thing I could find was another 2Y. Took down the old one and put in the new just to find out the tranny was fine. Now I have 2 close ratio transmission in good order. My question is ... Can I do something to get the same gear ratio I had like in my CHE, believe it or not my car is now slower with this transmission and is rubbish on the freeway. Sorry for writing so much in you fs post.

No problem with writing too much man. The 2y should have accelorated better up to hi way speed. The 5th gear will cause the rpm to be up a little as its a .91 compare to the che .80. The che can be repaired. You can even use the 5th from the che, dfq, or aws (.80 5th ) Sending IM for more details.

And remember..some of the later 16v transmissions used a SLIGHTLY larger inside diameter on the 4th gear. So an 86-87 (what ever the 1st year was) trans might not have the same ID 4th as a 92 trans 4th.

I have 2 2.0L 8v trans for now, one has a bolt kit and one is stock.

The bolt kit trans is $500, the stock one is $400.

Both have all new input shaft seals, push rod seal, axle flange seals.
