OK, I just recieved some A8L (12 spoke) Replicas, and their offset is ET35.

Now I'm debating on which springs to get, H&R Sports or Race... And also what tire size, 215's or 225's

here's a pic of H&R sports installed on 17's... looking at the pic, ET 35 would definitely fill out the wheel wells, and make a flush look.
    borrowed pic: the traveler...

and here's a pic of a MKV slammed on Race springs...
borrowed pic: Mchu86... keep in mind he has ET30 on the back w/ 215's

I'm not sure what i should go with! i'm always cruisin around with 3 people, including myself, and i'm already @ 230 lbs (built, not fat, lol)

should i go with Race springs and 215/40's all around or...

    Sport springs and 225/40's

Let me know what you think!

    Thanks in advance!

I still don't see how he is running ET-30 in the rear. In the picture, you can tell it pokes. Is he running 215/40 or 215/35?

Offset is a fuction of wheel width, what is the width of the rim?

definitely would if i had the money! but...

you see, i had coils on my other car, and only adjusted them once! so i'm not to crazy about them any more...

The springs will provide the drop i want, and i'll be good with that... if anything i can always swap them out for my stock 17's should these wheels become a problem.

    Thanks again!

215/40 18 Falken 512 are your safest bet. they run fairly skinny compared to other tires.

  17. 02-23-2007 01:06 PM #17
well im hopeing you post what your end results ended up being i just got my set of A8L's in last week. and was literaly about to order the tires untill i read the 215 40 18 idea.

i dont know how these wheels fit on gti's but the mk5 jetta its looking interesting.. the back wheels will tuck perfectly ( keep in mind this was the jackstands under the spring perc's so to show the full weight of the car on the suspension.) but the fronts hang out about 1/4".... there are a fare amount of pot holes out here on italian roads so i dont want to dent a rim by going to low of profile or stretching the tire too much. well i hope i didnt just make that confusing. but i need to know 215 or 225? what would be the best for this situation.

and sport H&R's are on the way

Hah, i'm running the same wheels!

what offset are your wheels? i have 18X8 et35

I see you'll be running H&R Sports, which i think you'll be safe with 225's...

I'll be using Vogtland 50mm springs, cause i want to be slammed, and with the offset of my wheels, i should be sitting nice...

and yes, i don't care about the rubbing!

Nah man, i'm still running stock... My wheels are stashed away and out of site so i don't have to keep looking at them, and feening to put them on...

    I'm doing a budget build...

    got my wheels for 400
Tires, don't really care, i'm running these for the summer only, am not driving agressive 240 for the set
suspension, if i go with just springs 200
shocks if i decide to, approx 500+

and that's all i'll be doing this summer, and then i'll most likely sell the wheels for cheap...

oh yea, i'm gonna install my amp and sub too...

And no, i'm not gonna chip it, i'm good the way it is...

Search for "usernameunknown", especially the first "wheel & tire thread", he's the first one in there, and he's running that same size...

as said before in previous threads, he's the reason i'm running this specific size wheel...
