    Thread: 1.8t Turbo Kit

    1. 12-22-2006 01:29 AM #1
I'm looking to run a bigger turbo on my 1.8t anyone have good recommendations for a modest turbo upgrade that doesn't break the bank, is reliable and makes good numbers. I know it'll be a little costly but what all do i need who makes good software and i guess anything else that someone with previous experience doing this would know, could be helpful.

They are ok, to me now worth the money, i recommend a gt28r for around 300whp more or less and for 400whp a gt30r

hum alrite... so with a k04 and every possible bolt on will the car be capable of lets say.... low 13sec mayb high 12 quarter mile passes and how is apr i was going to use their software

yeah if you want to spend a little extra cash then the K04-20 is nice. Get the TT manifold and spark plugs and the fun begins.

make sure to get a large enough cable for the 1.21 giggawats the new Flux Capacitor will require.

      APR
s K04 kit is a K04-001 turbo... it won't make much better numbers than stock at all. If you wnat a modest upgrade in power without breaking the bank look at the K04-020 kit from Pro Imports.

thanks the pro imports kit looks nice.. and its not too far from me... i raced a friend with revo software.. it seems like it might be a little faster with that as opposed to giac..

apr's stage 3 will get you 12.6 acording to their website. 12's will cost you big dollars.

hum... wow so pretty much the 1.8t motor isn't something that power can be easily extracted from.

    16. 12-25-2006 01:07 AM #16
you have the GIAC software so get the audi TT turbo, the k04-020 with the GIAC software. ftw. needs a few other parts, buy all parts needed are fromt he audi TT225, except for the giac software.

I got a K04-001 and apr chip ko4 program with V-tune upgrade turbo manifold, TT225 injectors, TT225 3"MAF housing, Greddy FMIC, forged TIP, CAI, and 3"DP to 2.5" cat-back, VF motor mounts with a sach stage 2 clutch kit w/ lighter flywheel on slicks I ran 12.6 at 104MPH I spent about 4500 to 5 grand for all that, and thats only with a K04 and completely stock internals. I have not dyno yet only street tuned, before the k04 with the k03 i was running 13.3 at 100mph but a drag radials with the k04-001 set-up with some tuning i got into the 12's and I bought the turbo from my friend for 300 buck.

nice times. I recommend the eliminator kits for good bang-for-the-buck. Just DO NOT waste your money on the gt2x eliminator!!! If u go eliminator, get gtrs or the 2871. ATP has gotten a bad rap for the eliminator kits, but they are not bad kits at all. Granted, they will not fit right up perfectly like an apr kit, but anyone with the slightest amount of mechanical abilities can install the kit. IIRC, i only had to slightly modify (grind off one corner) the shift cable bracket to make mine work, aside from the usual "grind off the lower left corner of the manifold." Like i said, u will have to do a little more work with an eliminator, but for the money u save, and the power the kit will produce......it's well worth it.

T3 super 60 on the cheap or an GT28RS/71R kit for a little more cash

VERY well. I picked up 50whp with methanol injection and appropriate tuning.
