Well that's a b!tch on the hit. Thankfully it's not any worse, and it is a great excuse to get that gate.

As for today: Tried my first attempt at clay-baring the Golf. I think I did a good job so far. Going to finish detailing for BFI tomorrow.

Also on the list for tomorrow: replace OE rub strip with filled (non-marker lights).

I know I am surprised at how good the car absorbed the impact.

As for the picture I may not be getting the hatch (very hard to find here and expensive to bring from Europe. I am looking at that rear bumper to match the front one I have on the sedan (which will be going on the wagon):

BTW the car feels so smooth after you clay bar it. Lots of work but it comes out fantastic.

Took the day off to finish up the trunk. Not 100% perfect, it'll have to do for now. Thinking about switching over to a 3 gallon.

Pulled my wheels and tires off and rebalanced them. Huge differance and big thanks to Joe at Bulldog tire for the help. He remounted my stretched tires like a boss.

anyone around had the issue of the rear beam being shifted on a mk4? or anything else for that matter? mine seems to be slightly shifted to the drivers side and my tire is rubbing more on that side then the passenger side. yet the height is the same. is it even worth trying to shift it over? or get a small spacer to compensate the difference?

its pretty minimal. but i have rubber melted to the fender and that burt paint look on one side and very little melted rubber on the other. fender to ground is the same on bost sides. the difference is prob the width of a penny.

Hmmm. could it be that you, the driver, cause the driver side to compress more when driving?

Have Pedro look at the toe for the rear wheels. He cant adjust them like he can the front (nobody can). Unless you get toe shims for the rear. Now that is a completely different animal, it requires pulling the stub axle and shimming between it and the rear beam.

thought about that. but i have the front drivers side about 1/4in higher to compensate me. and if i have a passenger in the car and/or luggage in the trunk its the same issue.
