Thread: Porting AWP to AEB spec

  1. 01-17-2007 09:44 PM #1
I searched, but it was useless.

I was looking to my AUQ(AWP) head, and it seems that it's possible to enlarge a bit the intake ports, but there are water jackets near the exhaust ports, making me think that maybe there are two 20v head castings.

Have anyone ever ported an AWP head to AEB specs? I'm interested in matching the head to an AUG intake manifold and my APR exhaust mani.

it can be done and i offer AEB port matching just finished Dizzy's head. also can open up the AWP to flow very close to AEB specs.

It can't be done without welding, the lower portion of the ports are very different?

port matching the intake ports to 56MM can be done without any welding.

some pics, its ghetto looking cause i did it in 5 min. Yes it can be opened up as big if not bigger then the AEB.

If i did that part it would be better. But the middle is the same size has the AEB about 24.5mm

side of the port on the AWP

    my AEB

yes you can open the ports to 55.6mm pretty easy

The port face is the least important area. Certainly you can open it up to AEB size, but when you get down by the bowls, the casting is very different

Head porting is really a form of art. I have a buddy who does 5 valve motorcycle heads. I couldn't imagine taking the time he does to make sure each port is perfect

Now finish it off by slicing through the middle of each valve seat so we can see all the different cross sections.

I haven't found any abrasive cutoff wheels which work great in aluminum... I've used them for some small jobs before but never anything like that.

Sawzal is probably the way to go, in your case... A good sized horizontal bandsaw would make short work of it.

I think it would be better and SAFER if you were to use a verticle bandsaw wearing a face mask and safety glasses, thanks.

i agree. a sawzaw i don't think will cut through a chunk of alluminum. those blades have a tough time staying straight cutting through a 2x4 piece of wood.

how should i cut it red line or blue line.

why not both, two cylinders one way and two the other? Plus it will give you more chances to wound yourself.
