I think I've read every single thread on this topic, and can't seem to find my answer.

I bought the OEM ipod adapter for my 06 B6. I have the value edition, single CD, NO SAT radio, and no navigation. My understanding was that this was plug-n-play for those that don't have sat radio (i.e. no wire swapping, harness assembly, etc), and that the harness simply plugs in and it's good to go.

Yet thats not the case. Doesn't work.. So apparently my understanding is incorrect.

Does anyone have any insight on this? I'd really like to not have to pay the dealer to install this...

Are you getting an error message or is it simply not working? Explain exactly what you are seeing or not and how (where) you installed the plug. Overall, it is an easy upgrade with little that can go wrong.

    Nothing on the screen.

I was reading the manual (which blows) and it says the VW logo should appear on the ipod, which does not happen.

When I press CD twice, it does nothing but say "CD NOT PRESENT" Or whatever that error message is.

No music, nothing on the display other then that message.

Plug went into empty slot on the back of the HU. I had to take the blue plastic piece off the ipod harness for it to fit. That's all I connected.

It's been a while since I installed mine but I remember that you had to unplug the stereo from the back and then insert the ipod adaptor in the slot once occupied by the extra CD jack.

You probably won't have that extra piece though because of your specific radio. Can you take a picture of the back and post it here? Also, you may want to post this question in the technical area as well:

I'm going to bump. I still can't get this to work, and none of the local dealerships know how to install

How about a picture of the harness so we know exactly which one your talking about! Also if it is thae same OEM I installed on my buddys Passat you would have to remove the radio aand move some wires around and walah should work perfect!

Don't have the B6 today, will have to do this tomorrow and post ASAP.

Obviously I removed the radio.. however all the directions I read said that the removal of wires was for sat enabled only.. so I assumed I didn't need to. I'm willing to do whatever to get it working, although I prefer not to screw anything up

I installed the VW iPod adapter about 5 years ago and it had been working fine for the longest time. However, now I don't get the VW symbol on my iPod when I plug it in. Nor does it try and charge off the adapter as it used to. The head unit (factory VW, base AM/FM/CD) also does not recognize the iPod.

Any thoughts? Is it possible the electronics in the adapter control box gave up?

    Thanks
