    Heres one that bugs me...

You can run a 16x9 ET15 up front!!

I tried it out for ****s and giggles this weekend. 16x9 ET15, 205/40 Falkens, rolled fenders, down the same amount I was on my 15x8's. Only rubbed at full lock...

yea man, my theoretically comes in because unless its the same tire brand/model the tire width change wont quite be comparable :-/ good luck

i'm looking at a 15x8 inch wheel, they claim to have a 3.5 inch lip.

now, i'm confused as to if i can get away with this or if it would rub to much. my car isnt lowered but i'm looking at a kit that owuld lower it about 2 inches. its a sport so my car looks like a frickin jeep right now.

    what should i do?

Same thing here. Those Sportmax 002s are cheap and tempting. They make them in a 15x8 with 0et or you can get +15et. Im gonna be running a 60/40 drop, can I pull off the 0et without rubbing, or should I play it safe and get the +15? Suggested safe tire sizes for New England roads would be a plus too. Thanks guys.

P.S. Been trying to get this question answered for about a week without success haha.

^ those are the ones, i'm just confused as to what to do. not only that but i don't really want to stretch the tires, but i'm afraid the won't fit any other way.....

i'm dumb, what does "et" means?

I'll be running 16x9 et 15 this coming summer. I've just finished having my fronts pulled, and my rears were pulled back in the end of the summer. Now my question is my tire size. I'm almost certain I'll be going the 205/40 route on all the wheels, I just don't know if I can gain enough clearance up front with that tire and some negative camber to keep my car quite low. I've been considering the 195/40, but I don't know if that is overkill to make things work for me.

dude with pulled fenders and 205s youll easily be able to bury that thing.

I'm running 16x9's et 15 with 205/40's, only rolled fenders and I don't have any major issues... so having pulled fenders will definetely make you "dumpable"

    You'll hit rim before rubber

    Apparently, it will be done.

It's all dependant on the final ET of said wheel.

Turning may be an issue, but that's what maps are for. Planning the route with the least turns.

You should contact Garmin and TomTom and tell them to add that to their route planning!

I sure hope so man. With 215 t1-r's it didn't look too promising. I'm hoping the 205 falken should do the trick. I still want to have the option of bottoming out my coils.

so on a 16x7 the ideal tire size is 195/40/16? how would that compare to a 205/40/16? lets say with a final et of 30 and 25? i wanted to get a used set of tires and the 205s are way more common then then 195s. but do i really want that extra stretch

It's not really about stretching in your case.
All about clearance, and being able to turn the coils down a bit more.

  21. 01-24-2007 01:49 AM #91
you live in the fantasy world where you think you can stretch a tire on a 16x7 inch wheel. Its not gonna happen toots.

get Falken 205/40's and call it a day, at least the sidewalls are molded in a psuedo stretch-type shape. I think you will be happiest with those, Conti's in 195/40 are blocky in the sidewalls and need at least an 8" wide wheel to begin to call it as you say... stretched.

as a side note you could get Dunlop SP9000's in 195/40 for a psuedo stretch sidewall but they are not common, have to come from Europe and definetly not readily available used.... Nor are they cheap. Toyo's tend to run big for their size so Im afraid their 195/40 offering will still be outclassed by the 205/40 Falken.

tha would help out a lot i wish the falkens came in 195/40 17. i like the way they stretch

Derek, I think playing with your camber will do more than spending all sorts of loot on 195/40/17"s, specially because 512's run small.

    16x7.5 et25 front and 16x8.5 et10 rear with 195/40s up front and 205/40s rear.

this would accomplish tuckable fronts and rears with a subtle amount of poke. i like that.

    Sounds good

This is another good point that I have not seen in here yet. -2 degrees camber will work wonders for a lot of people.

thats A LOT of camber though, especially with his inner clearance issues.

How much negative camber can we really expect to see out of an unmodified setup, ie camber bolts or camber plates?

I run around -2.5, no crazy wear issues.

Buuut I did forget about the inner clearances for him. Oops.
