How much negative camber can we really expect to see out of an unmodified setup, ie camber bolts or camber plates?

As much as you could ever want in the front.

ive allways been into falkens.... thought about trying some contis for my new wheels but i still think the falkens will give more clearance so ill prolly be getting them again

    case in point

    both 16x7.5 wheels

    all 17x8's

the rears on the variant are 8's with 195 40's

(sorry best pics i could find)

and if your going to run the same et wheels front and rear space rears out atleast 8-10 mm to cover the fronts wider track

    PVW 9/07 , 2/12
    Eurotuner 1/05

If you're low, and are planning on running 17s between the widths of 7 and 8.5, you want a 205/40/17 tire.

    Thats exactly what i have

Come on now, there is a limit, I just want to know how much that limit is.

Any pictures of the -2.5 camber?

there is about 5 degrees of camber adjustment in the stock setup, so like he said, its more than you could ever want.

Dang I didn't realize there was that much to work with. I guess I need to figure out how much I'll be needing then. I figured I'd have to start modifying things. Good to know. Thanks.

by the time everything is back together, i should be running a 16x8 et23 front and a 16x9 et 10 rear. fenders are rolled now and still have some more persuading in them without resorting to pulling them.

going to go with contis, 195-40-16 front and 215-35-16 rear.

i wouldnt do 195/45s then, youll have a lot of gap.

indeed, I have that problem now with 195/45.

  9. 01-25-2007 03:17 PM #114
ya, im going to go with 195/50's... and i just purchased a set of 20mm spacers. i was in the process of buying a set of 15mm, but that fell through. then a pair of 25mm appeared from the heavens. so i guess im going to be running 20 and 25mm with 195/50's. we'll see how it works out.

With that 5 degress of adjustment though, how much of it is actually negative?

Most of it is negative I believe.
I am pretty sure they will go to a little over 1 degree positive.
My camber is set at roughly -1.2 or -1.3.
A very foolproof design for low (to tuck) and not a lot of rubbing issues is 16x7.5 with anywhere from 35 to 20 et up front and 20 to 5 et in the rear with 205/40's. The et variance would depend on the level of rolling/cutting you have done.
While running the rials I could be much more liberal in my bump choices than with the compomotive set-up.
Running a 9.5 et0 low is fun, but scary sometimes, not recommended for beginners!

    The compomotive set up is:
    front: 15x9 et15 195/45
    rear: 15x9.5 et0 215/45
    tires are toyo T1R

    The Rial set up is:
16x7.5 all around (et 35 front and 15 rear) with 205/40 all around
    tires are toyo proxes 4

my fronts are rolled completely flat and my rears are completely cut out.

so do you mind breaking this down for me.

no rolled fenders, lowered car. i want to run 17s.

like the picture of that silver wagon.....
    front wheel width?
    front tire size?
    rear wheel width?
    rear tire size?

    what size spacers and where?
and this is without any camber mods correct?
    thanks

you wont be able to pull off the setup of that silver estate without extremely rolled or cut fender curl front and rear. that said, as listed in the original post, 17x8 195/40s. someone else can probably chime in on the actual ets on that thing, but i would guess 30-35 all around with ~15mm spacers out back and ~5mm up front.

    unless you have big tires.

that leaves you with little more that 2 1/2 degrees, measured by eye.

so what about the same questions with 16s. still no rolled fenders?

17X7.5 et35 with 205/40's would satisfy most people on here expecially those on cup kits.
thats what i have but to get low enough to make it look right (imo), you need your fenders rolled.

depends on drop. if you put the wheel lip to the fender edge, no dice. you should just work on tucking 7.5"s or getting a nice stance with 8"s

205/40s are a bit more accessible but final offsets et25 and et15 rear woule be nice on 17x7.5s or 17x8s, but youd need a roll.

    Question for the wheel gods,

16x8 et20 in the rear, and I know I need to space the rear some more to clear the hubs because the center cap won't fit. From what I understand is that you need like 10-15mm space in the rear to clear it, which means I'd be around et10-5 final. Would that be too much poke, or would I just need the right tire and maybe some rolling?

  28. 01-29-2007 08:50 PM #133
i run 16x8 et12 rear right now with 205/40s and im pretty low. i rub constantly on rolled fenders.

You think running a 195/40 would be the better choice then? I'm just worried that with the roads here the 195 won't be enough tire.

  31. 01-29-2007 09:01 PM #136
if yer not scared to run a 205/40 i wouldnt be scared of a 195/40.

How much stretch are we talking with a 195/40 on 8". Probably not much but very noticeable?

calculated the overall diameter of wheel+tire:

    195/40/16 = 22.14"
    205/40/16 = 22.46"

not much of a difference, however, when we are talking about the 'perfect' stance, a third of an inch ends up being more than it sounds....my concern is the rockers of death found on cabrios. i wan't my tires tucked ever-so-slightly, but i don't want to put my rockers through the pavement.

ps... this is the kind of thread i dream of waking up the next day and still finding it on the first page of the mk3 forums. lets see this one get to 10 pages!

    Modified by 2.0lover at 4:46 PM 1-23-2007

When most people compare 195 to 205, they don't worry about overall diameter, there isn't going to be anything noticeable.

I would suggest going with the 195 on the 7". As difficult as it is to stretch a tire on a 7", this would look great.

  34. 01-29-2007 11:26 PM #139
What am i looking at for a 16x9 52et on a 195/40, but final et will probably be between 12, and a 16x8 et52 on a 195/40 with a 20 final et? They're D90s by the way. My fronts are rolled, and i'm sure i'm going to roll the crap out of them some more, along with the rears, because i plan on being really low. And with the fenders, i might even end up giving them a slight pull if i can't get as low as i want. Any suggestions?

can i ask you the reasoning behind the 195/40's on the 9s and the 205/40's on the 8s?
