    1. 01-29-2007 07:05 PM #1
ready to upgrade to a plasma, how can i get rid of my 10 year old sony 46in projection tv? it still works, pictures are start to fade and there's a crack on the screen . i don't want to just leave it on the sidewalk and none of my friends want that antique. should i just donate to the goodwill store and get some tax relief?

Call whoever is responsible for your trash collection. Here in my town in MA, we have to call the trash contractor and give them our address. They come around the day after regular pickup to collect "white goods" like TV's and applicances. You may have to pay though.

More than likely though if you put it out on the curb, it'll be gone in a couple of hours.

put it up on Craigslist for free. Someone will take it.

Isn't the Super Bowl coming up soon?

      1) Go to local college/university and post a "Watch the game on a free 46" tv" flyer with your phone number.

      2) Drive straight home and sort through the 50 phone messages. Pick one and call the guy. Open a beer.

      3) TV will be gone before you finish the beer.

There's always money in the banana stand.

I was wondering about this too. I have a three year old Toshiba 57" CRT HDTV I've been thinking about getting rid of. I can't imagine that anyone wants 350 lb. TVs anymore, so I wasn't sure what to do with it.

You can still get a couple hundred bucks out of it, at least around here.

Bloody hell... 57" CRT?!?!? I'll bet it didn't get moved much once you placed it in the living room.

"Wouldn't it look better over there?"
      "No."
"What about a bit to the left?"
      "No."
      "What..."
      "No."

I had a 6 year old Sony 61" CRT RP HDTV that I sold earlier this month for $450. I posted it on craigslist for $500 and was offered as low as $350. And yes, it weighed a ton. There's still a small market out there for these big clunkers.

Actually, it's on wheels so it's really easy to move around, just not easy to carry.
