    Bump up...

I just found out that Schmeisser GmbH has been making AR-15 rifles. That's pretty cool.

Yeah I heard about that. A lot of the companies that make AR clones in this list are either gone or you'll never see one of their guns in person. I am the only person I know (other than my friend Jimmy) that has seen a Balimoy M16 for example.

By the way... this AR15 clone list was mentioned in a gun magazine a few years back. I should dig it up and quote it. I chuckled when I read the article.

The modern "Armalite" company is not the same company as the ArmaLite Division of Fairchild Engine and Airplane Company. The original ArmaLite company went out of business in the 1980s. Today's "ArmaLites" are technically clones. For simplicity though I don't list them as two different companies.

Another bump to add a few more. I can't believe I've been editing this list for over 5 years.

Bump up to add some more manufacturers. Also a note: almost 5 and a half years after starting this list I finally bought an AR-15 in July of 2012. Better late than never eh?
