Huper optik isn't worth the cash. 3 bills for tint?

Alta Mere is an Huber Optik dealer....but like Jeff said...3 bills is a bit much.....AM has tinted 6 of my cars of ther years, and I have been very happy with the quality and longevity of the films they have used.

There is a tint place next to the Hot Rod Grill in Henderson. I forgot the name, but Cody there has done 2 of my cars all five windows for 200 bucks. Excellent work!! He is the German car expert there, I guess the windows fit really tight so it is a tuff job.

If you want more info email me...

There's a place off of Gowan that does Johnson films. Cost me $150 for 15% metallic tint. No complaints two years later.

There's no point in spending that kind of cash on tint.

The window film I got is made by Johnson Films and has a lifetime warranty, it was 1/2 the price of Huper Optik. I too was going to go for them as well till I saw the price.

I am re-tinting the TT before summer; any suggestions on where to buy a roll (or enough for a TT) of 5% 'limo black' tint? I have a feeling some wal-mart tint won't hold up very well to the sun in Vegas...

Andy...I used to buy Lummar films at a place down on highland, north of Sahara....I forgot the name..but for an extra $100 I just paid Alta Mere to do our cars....less frustration, and they WILL do 5%/Limo if you ask and pay cash.

again, they have done all our Porsches, and MB and other vehicles over the years, NEVER had any issues with the tint or the quality of work...one car we had for nearly 6 years.. stayed perfect.

Hey Larry- thanks for the tip! I'm very... <ahem> "frugal", and the TT has frameless glass on the doors (think 'Cabriolet') so it is a piece of cake. It would be more a pain in the butt to find someone I trust, drop off the car, get a ride to pick it up, than it would be for me to do it myself. Plus I save $100 for beer.
If you or anyone thinks of the name of that place that sells tint, I'd be much obliged! I assume "Lummar" is a higher quality tint? At least better than the "Gila" tint sold at Auto parts stores?

you married a Jew didn't you?!

yes, Lummar is the same quality as 3M and the other big names....and I understand, but even I got lazy and had them do the 968 Cabrio...they did a great job I paid $100 for both windows....and zero hassle.

    I will go tint devil...

I like that 15% high performance film.. I wonder what brand they use.. lol

  24. 06-13-2007 12:17 AM #24
i'm not sure of the laws or leniancy here involving tint but it looks as though its 35% front and no limit back and rear..

so is anyone rockin 5% all around and have you ever gotten grief for it? lots of cars in henderson have the fronts blacked out, but its not worth a ticket to me if they are strict about it.

its getting too hot inside the cockpit for me!

Please don't use tint devils. I tool my Jetta to them last week. The left 1/4" on the top of the back window completely uncovered. You can see thru it. And they screwed up a cut on the rear drivers side door, used black marker to hide it from me. Black marker!!!??? WTF? And on the front passenger side door, there is a fairly large piece of tint (one of the shavings from when they trim the tint) between the tint and the window. I had my other jetta done at AM on springmountain and rainbow. I am going to take my jetta over there to get it redone.
