I can not reflect my frustration enough.

    December 22 - 27000 miles
Driving down the street about 35 miles per hour and while shifting the car does not engage into 3rd. I stop and then the car doesnt engage into any gear. Towed a car to a dealer, they replaced the clutch cylinder.

    December 24 - 27200 miles
Had to go back to the dealership due to the fact that sometimes the clutch pedal would fall though. Service cleaned out the hydraulic line. Per them there were some air bubbles.

    Jeanuary 10 - 29000 miles
The clutch pedal shakes while engaging and taking off in 1st, 2nd and reverse. Dealer want me to pay $600 as they believe it is a clutch and flywheel. About 2 weeks in the shop and a single screw wasnt taken off. Permy mechanic it is a pressure plate bearing. He told me to drive the car for now and eventually it might grow into a serious problem where the dealership will actually have to fix it.

    February 27th - 33500 miles
Driving home, start off the light, car turns off in 1st gear and the gear gets stucked in 1st. Tried to start the car for 5 times, only worked on the 6th attempt. Messed with the shifter, were able to put the car in neutral. The car doesnt go into the gear.

When i was there in January, they tried to blame me for burnt clutch and flywheel, however they have never pulled the gearbox to determine so.

Please, give me your inputs on what might this problem be. I am towing the car tomorrow morning.

I had a similar if not the same problem with my 5spd Rabbit. Dealership said that it was stuck in 1st and reverse, wouldn't go into neutral. Car couldn't move at all. They ended up replacing ****load of transmission parts. They said the diff was messed up.

MkV Vdub Manuals are when it comes to durability

You're not the first to have problems. I don't know if anyone has come up with an answer as to why this is happening.

    Hope it gets fixed.

After I got my car back from the dealership, my clutch was slipping, i notified them of that since it didnt slipp b4. It was friday and they told me to bring the car in on tuesday so they can look at it. they said that if it's the clutch that i would have to pay $2000 for it. So i was kind of debating to take it in or not, because if i did and it was the clutch they said that i would have to pay for it. By the way 4000 miles on the car . And by sunday night the clucth stopped slipping and everything was fine since. Didn't take it to get it looked at.

Still wondering why it slipped and all of the sudden it stopped slipping .

That is why I got DSG. I had problems with the clutch on my MK4 GTI. If DSG brakes down, VW can't say that it is my fault because driver does not control the clutch directly so cannot brake it either

Got a call back from the dealer. Clutch and Flywheel. $2000.00 I took my mechanic there and when we came the clutch was still on. They can not say that the flywheel needs to be replaced untill they take of the clutch. Misrepresentation. Anyways i am on the phone with VW of America and i think that the have to address it somehow. I mean i am a college student and i can juts be throwing $400.00 - brakes, last mont, $2000.00 - clutch this month. I told the dealer that i can resurface the clutch and they said that they dont allow it. I am gonna fight them.
