Too much stretch in my opinion... I would have gone with a 225/40/18 or at least went down to an 18x8". Otherwise it looks great. If you are going for more of the poke look, you should definitely consider some spacers.

proper tire size would have been 215/40 not 215/35. your tire is not tall enough now and is going to throw off your speedo, odometer and gas mileage.

see above post about tires being too small.

op went w/ correct width tire for a good stretch but the sidewall is too short.

    11. 03-02-2007 07:09 PM #11
tire size is perfect, i think its looking out of place, cause of the wheel gap, drop it down some more and you'll be 100%

looks neat. Just be careful and stay away from curbs!! Don't want to see major curb checks!

sidewall is too short. should have gone with 40's

you need to go lower. tuck tire. you have small tires, your car is begging to get low. get some low coils and put it on the floor and it will work a lot better

      next set of tires

      215/40/18

they look like 16", is it just me or is the mesh + lip combo not working very well on the mkv's

    18. 03-02-2007 07:50 PM #18
you have h&r coils and thats as low as they go? something isnt right... and the wheels look really small. i have hpa shs coils and i'm lower than that with stock 17s...

yea but your running a bigger profile tire, so yours has less wheel gap, running a really small profile tire, you gotta really slam the car even more to get the proper lack of wheel gap. h&r's really dont go that low. gotta switch to fk's.

I really love the wheels! I just wanted to know, how's the ride and will there be issues if you do any hardcore cornering?

thats true, but damn... i know h&r coils go noticeably lower than hpa coils... and that wheel gap is ridiculous it looks like he has h&r springs i had no clue going from a 45 to a 35 sidewall would make THAT much of a difference.

The profile is fine but the width is so wrong. Whoever sold you that mess should be shot.
Get a proper tire size for the wheels and you'll be fine. Just make sure there's ample wheel protection built into the tire you choose.
Otherwise, nice wheel choice (if you're into chrome),

    24. 03-02-2007 08:11 PM #24
      BTW...nice power spec's!

    25. 03-02-2007 08:18 PM #25
tire size is fine, dont listen to these people scared of small tires. just needs to be lower

    26. 03-02-2007 09:03 PM #26
from the side view the wheels do look smaller than 18" and it has to much stretch IMO but they are great wheels

the car is too pretty for those wheels
      car
      wheels

I dont think sitting lower, or getting the "right" tires will make this car look better TO ME (note: my opinion).

The problem is the huge amount of metal between the spokes and the edge of the rim.
It just looks silly and makes the wheel seem deceptively small. But hey... thats just my opinion.

Umm, there is a point to going 215/35. its a smaller profile, gives the more belgian style euro look, slammed small tires and stretched. for his application and the look he is going that is the proper size tire.

that's what it is, the "tire stretch" concept is just retarded. Buy the correct size tires

It's not the tire size its the off-set. 30 is too high for mkvs. If the car dropped any more it would probably rub on the fender lip.
