I didn't mind the Muramasa filler arc at first but I kind of wish they'd get back to the Hueco Mundo already...

they're holding off since the anime is almost caught up with the manga, plus KT needs more time to further develop the next 2 arcs after Hueco Mundo which will be Kurosaki Isshin & The Royal Guard...

I dont get why people like Bleach so much? I watched the first 5 or so episodes and was just not feeling it.

Some series that I have really enjoyed:

    Gundam 00
Death Note (totally rooting for Light)
    Darker Than Black
    Black Blood Brothers
Serial Experiments Lain (this went over my head for the most part, until the very end)
    Berserk - this was o.k.

I'm watching Gantz right now and liking it a lot. I guess I dont really like/appreciate the comic relief in anime. I watch it to be dramatic and tense and tell a compelling story.

Some series that I tried but didnt follow through on:
    Bleach
    Monster
Full Metal Alchemist (might revisit this)

This is a good thread to look through for suggestions Looks like Claymore was mentioned in the category that applies to my interests. I also need to get around to watching GITS. I think I saw one of the movies a long time ago.

you'll have to watch several more episodes, it really starts to pick up when you get to the Soul Society arc...

they must have switched writers after the first Rukia Arc.
During that Arc Ichigo (pre-hollowfication and pre-Bankai) beats Kenpachi, then in the Hueco Mundo Arc Kenpachi SAVES Ichigo after he gets beat by the #5 Espada! that makes no sense, and it's stuff like that that continues to happen, it was good up until that point..

also Rukia should have NEVER been able to beat the #9 Espada who has the power of 20,000 Hollow, what are the writers thinking?

bleach is just terrible now. heaven forbid one of the main characters die and give us a great surprise..

I'm on episode 50/109 of Fist of the North Star. It's so cheesy and awesome at the same time!

Here's a couple episode title to get the cheesy part across

"In a City Without Light, a Lone Fist Burns! - Furious Death of the Five Exploding Fingers!''

"The Bloody Cross Attacks! - Secret Technique, Death by Soft Strikes!''

"Can the Flames of Love Burn in Hell? - You Are Already Dead!!''

"The Raging Flame Reverse Flow Punch! - There Are Too Many Who Must Die!''

"Count to Three! - You're the One Who'll Die!''

"Nightmarish Full-Scale War! - My Fists Pack One Million Volts!"

"Rei, I'll Wipe Your Tears Away With My Fists!''

There's a Japanese dude that says the titles out loud every episode, I can't help but crack up sometimes

I've just finished Black Lagoon which I thought was awesome. Does anyone have any suggestions in the same style?

not up to it yet, only on ep16 of series1, whole thing took a while to download 152 episodes was 33gb but there are plenty of seeders

Also have to watch the "Fist of the North Star: The Legends of the True Savior", and am trying to find "Legends of the Dark King: A Fist of the North Star Story" both of which were made in the past few years.

Well, since you've listed some of these animes you've enjoyed, Bleach is a different type of series. With Death Note and these other animes, it's a limited anime where they have to get the story out and action quickly since they've only budgeted 26 episode or so.

Bleach there is no ending yet, as the story is still being developed as we speak it's one of those TV series that just keeps going. The story has be stretched and pace is much slower than what some folks can tolerate.

For example, DBZ they could be sitting on one fight for 5-6 episode with just fighting dialogue and no development.

Naruto is another example where the story is still being developed and the creator has to slow the pace so they have time to write and add new content instead of finishing the story off.

I think that is a major thing I like as well, a faster paced story with an end in sight.

I just watched Claymore (21 episodes in 1 day ) It was awesome.

The funny thing about Claymore is that's not really the end of the story. They just stopped animating it after 26 episodes. The manga goes further.

Same thing with Berserk, and Guyver. I really wish they would have continued with Berserk.

    Back from the dead...

The last 10 episodes of FMA: Brotherhood have been awesome! Lots of action and better than the original FMA anime series imho (having never read the manga).

Bleach is finally done with fillers starting this week! And the final episode of Inuyasha aired a couple of weeks ago for anyone that's interested. It's nice they finally finished that series.

    .

ABSOLUTELY. Brotherhood follows the manga much more closely, and is definitely better than the original animated series. The origin of the Homunculi, Hohenheim's involvement, Scar's role is much different, not to mention the formerly non-existent people from Xing (whom I think are ****ing badass), all make this iteration of Fullmetal Alchemist soooo much better.

Also, I completely agree with the people who said Berserk should have continued. The 2nd and 3rd arcs are sooo cool, I really hope the studio picks it back up some day, especially with some up-to-date animation

And now I'm just gonna list my fav shows, in no particular order:
    Trigun
    Cowboy Bebop
    Deathnote
    Gantz
    Noein (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)
    Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
    Fullmetal Alchemist / Brotherhood
    Berserk
    Claymore
    One Piece
    Soul Eater
Detroit Metal City (amazing, but atypical)
    Eureka Seven
    FLCL
    Hellsing / Ultimate
    Yu Yu Hakusho

As for movies, you 100% MUST see Sword of the Stranger, the animation and choreography of the fights is incredible.

I'm behind on the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood series. The only thing you mentioned I have not seen is Noein. I remember getting Berserk on VHS at local import anime shops before DVD's became mainstream. I believe the issue was lack of funding for the production company, so it never continued. For those that followed the manga, I bet there is so much more. I need to start reading them.

    Does anybody watch?

    Gintama
Tatakau Shisho: The Book of Bantorra

    Or seen these?

    First Squad
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure OAV (all 13 episodes) (I know the first six episodes are old, around the time of Berserk maybe a few years older)
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood (Movie)

Many animes that didn't draw huge followings usually gets 1-2 seasons while the manga they are based on continues on.

Claymore's story is a bit more mature than other animes. Very similar to Berserk.

I'm kind of bummed about Claymore right now because the manga's direction is confusing.

I've recently finished watching Code Geass... both seasons. Incredible story, and I struggled trying to figure out who I should be rooting for.

One of the best I've ever seen.

A lot of people are turned off by the slow pace of the 1st series but its necessary to see the development of Zero's character.

I think the end of Season 1 is probably imo some of the most epic story writing in anime ever. I've watched anime for over 20 yrs and never seen anything like it.

Death Note comes close to it but it falls short of expectations towards the end.

Season 2 is great as a continuation, the artwork is triple A, character design is flawless. Suzaku finally has some worthy moments.

I'm getting towards then end of Season 1 now, and holy ****. You're not joking when you say epic.

Personally I think Light and L are both wayyy cooler characters than Ledouche, err I mean Lelouche My only other criticism of the series is the art... human beings do NOT look like that, everyone is much too lanky. Also the animation every time he uses his Geass is just dumb, and annoys me.

human beings do NOT look like that
You mean teenage girls don't all have epically large boobs that jiggle and bounce at even the faintest breath?!?

Can someone explain Macross Zero to me please? I'm a bit lost as to what happened at the end... and the middle... and a bit of the beginning.

I need some help remembering an anime movie...

In my mind, I'm remembering this movie as taking place in the Robotech Universe. It might have been set in the city inside the SDF-1. The main character has a red motorcycle that is a mecha.

I did a quick Google, and I came up with this:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kotetsushin_Jeeg

There are elements that match up with my memories, but I'm almost certain that the mecha was red, and an image search shows a very different looking mecha.

    Any ideas?

-edit- Sigh... nevermind, it's Robotech: The Movie... and it used bit from Megazone 23
