    Thread: The Hamilton Report............

    1. 05-14-2007 04:45 PM #71
Massa had a light fuel load. His car is also blatantly quicker in a straight line. He was able to get the gap up to 17 seconds at it's largest. Hammie finished 6 behind him. It's a gamble, between weight and on track incidents. This time Ferrari had the pace and the strategy.

    2. 05-15-2007 06:30 AM #72
Of course but I am referring to all of the races thus far. yeah, the Ferraris are quicker but I wonder if Hamilton wasn't starting with as much fuel, would those gaps be as huge 10 laps into the race. I am just thinking out loud I suppose.

Bump .....for no other reason than.........could this be the weekend?

Probably not since he'll probably start with a heavier fuel load.......AGAIN!! It's all good. As long as he gets another great start and some how sneaks in behind Alonso and ahead of Massa, it should be a 1-2 for McLaren. Should......

    4. 05-26-2007 06:42 PM #74
unless something goes wrong, he's not going to get by anyone, so I am just going to hope something happens, lol. Damn he was ona tear through q3. I am pretty sure the shed loads of hot ass would think we were related if I were out there, lol.

Hamilton had a great race today.
He proved that when he needs to be he is as quick as Alonso.
Although I think he may have burnt his tires up a little quicker...

Hamilton will win the first race he qualifies in pole for.

However 5 races into a career, joint top of the championship and completing 80 laps in Monaco, in 2nd and lapping everyone to 3rd isn't too shabby.

I got the feeling he was given clear orders to back off later in the race... and he didn't seem too happy about it...

This is it. Ferrari can't touch him this weekend.

His only threats are Alonso, and the barriers.

I really hope he makes it!

What a crazy and memorable race!

      Highlights:

      - Alonso getting it wrong at Turn 1 not once, but 4 times
      - Kubica crashing badly, glad he's alright
      - Both Spykers hitting the same wall one after another
      - Rosberg and Trulli spinning in unison at Turn 1 without contact
      - Alonso and Rosberg penalized for pitting under yellow
      - Massa and Fisichella black flagged for ignoring pit lane red light
      - Trulli crashing out during the safety car period
      - Record 4 safety car periods
      - Davidson hits a beaver and goes into pits, but pit crew nowhere to be seen
      - Sato passing Raikkonen
      - Sato passing Ralf Schumacher
      - Sato passing Alonso
      - Sato P6, one in front of Alonso
      - Kovalainen P4 after starting dead last
      - Wurz P3 from 19th place while missing half his wing the entire race
      - Hamilton P1, and first driver to ever win maiden race in Canada

But through it all Hamilton led... could it be, Hamilton winning the driver's crown in his first year?

Hopefully team orders do not show up next week. Alonso was lucky to finish in the points, 4 times off the track in the same corner?

I wonder if it will increase the interest in F1 stateside?
I doubt there has been a more exciting race to watch in the last few years.

and Hamilton was sensational today. I was praying he wouldn't make a mistake... and he didn't.. his composure is frightening for a 22 yr old.

I said it in another thread, but I truly believe that Schuey will want a piece of Hamilton....
If that does happen, I think 08' season could be even better.

One of the best races and moments in memory. I would always joke that there were like 2 other black people in the stands in years past, and we always acknowledged each other. This year, there were black people all over the place! He's literally , the Tiger Woods of racing! The Maclaren stands were packed with people buying shirts and other merchandise, and it was almost exclusively Hamilton stuff. I am so proud of him! Seeing him jumping up and down in the car was so awesome.

Truer words have never been spoken. I have a Ferrari flag up in my place right now. After today, I am ordering a McLaren (Hamilton) flag to go along with it. I only started watching F1 regularly two years ago, so I missed out on Senna, the rise of Schumacher, Hakkinen, etc. It's exciting to be able to watch Hamilton's rise to the top.

OMG, exactly the same thing I noticed this weekend. I've never seen so many black people in the stands. Me and my dad had a laugh at them at one point because the expressions on their faces when 30 Italian men start chanting "Oh layyyyy oh lay oh lay oh lay". It was priceless. It's great for the sport IMO.

I wasn't about to jump on the Hamilton bandwagon when all of this started, but after seeing him drive in person for three days, the kid is incredible. He was the smoothest, most fluid driver on the track all weekend. Kimi is still my guy, but I was rooting for Lewis secretly.

One a side note, you could feel the air sucked out of the stands when the big screen zoomed in on Kubica when his car was tumbling and hit the wall as it came to a stop. I had a feeling we were going to see history this weekend, and I'm just glad it wasn't the first F1 death since Ratzenberger and Senna in '94

Hahaha, the local sports radio station here annouced during a ticker this morning that Hamilton is the "first African-American to win an F1 race"

They picked it up from ESPN, which is notorious for being ultra-PC to the point of embarassment. They are so afraid to use the word black, that they identified a british guy as African-American (now corrected of course). Sad, true, and hilarious.

PC in America has gone wwaaayyy too far...

I didn't get a chance to watch the race this weekend, but Hamilton certainly showed Alonso how to stay on the track! Just reading the race recaps it sounded like everyone was driving on ice and totally disregarding pit lane rules except for Hamilton. I am looking forward to watching him at the USGP!

that was one of the most random races ever. it was almost as if bernie told everybody to intentionally make it exciting. but you couldnt have scripted a race like that. the three things that did it for me were sato, alonso and wurz. after making fun of sato for years now its actually good to see him do well. and i loved seeing alonso screw up so many times at the same corner. for some reason i love seeing that guy pissed off. wurz's his wing was severly structurally damaged. yea its a low downforce track but i cant beleive he went the majority of the race with that damage to finish on the podium. crazy crazy race.

oh yea, i cant believe hamilton. his record so far is totally unbelievable.

He is. That's why someone commented on it. People are so afraid of saying 'black guy' that some moronic broadcaster called this British black kid 'African-American'. Stupid. I don't know any black people offended by the term 'black guy'. I've heard some say 'I'm not black'(meaning they aren't physically the color black), but then again, I've been called 'white guy' a million times, but I'm not exactly the color white either.

I dunno. It's a huge deal in the media if someone says 'black guy' when it has to do with someone's success in a medium where there just haven't been many black participants, but it's never obsessed over when the term 'white' is used when a white guy has success in a medium where there haven't been many white participants - the only example I can think of is Eminem. Why must everyone in the media say 'African-American', when 'white guy' is perfectly fine?

Hell, Lewis Hamilton is no more African than I am German.

I dunno. I just don't get the drama.
