Why didnt he put on new intermediates when he went in for fuel, the left front tire was about gone at that point and he had plenty of seconds between him and Kimi to put 6 sec of fuel in the car and change to new rubber. Sad sad day
Hopefully he can pull it off in San Palo

un-bloody-believable.
All I could think of was Mansell in Adelaide.
Weren't you surprised by how well he looked to handle it though?
All set for an amazing race in Brazil now....

If he only came in a lap earlier?
With that little temper tantrum Alonso threw after qualifying, I wonder how McLaren would treat Alonso now since he has a genuine shot at the title.
Before Hamilton threw it all away, I was wonder if Alonso would even race in Brazil if Hamilton won the title in China.

I woke up the neighborhood when I yelled 'you gotta be f*ckin kidding me!'
...well at least my wife, and the baby, and the neighbor's dog.

Jeeze, talk about a nailbiter in Brazil...

Whatever happens, this wasn't all Lewis. The team should have called him in 2 laps earlier and he should have let Kimi, and frankly, anyone else who wanted to pass. Today he showed his rookie side, and really separated himself from the experience of Alonso and Kimi. Alonso's "big picture" thinking would have won him the championship. Kimi's car control and experience with damaged tires would have brought him in earlier.

Alonso is already talking crap about the team screwing him for Brazil.
"performance will be, I hope, very similar between the 2, for whole weekend, not only q1,q2"

He stayed on those damn tires 1 lap too long. He was sliding all over the place when Kimi overtook him.
Watching his car slowly stop on the gravel pit was like watching a golf ball creep up to the hole and stop just on the rim.

13. 10-07-2007 04:28 AM #213
There is a God!!!
Its hard to blame anyone or anything but Hamilton. Kimi was out just as long as Hamilton on the same inters they started with and he drove them in just fine. It isn't often that I jump out of my couch and cheer, but this was one of those moments.

I think it would be a bit much to ask for another Hamilton dnf, so heres hoping for an Alonso-Kimi/Massa-Hamilton podium at Brazil. If Alonso wins Brazil and ties the points he'll win off of victories 5-4. Brazil could be a fantastic end to the season, no matter if you are cheering for Hamilton, Alonso, or Kimi.
Oh, btw- Vettel for rookie of the year. Its one thing to do well in a McLaren, but he placed 4th in a STR. Expect to see him in a top car in the next year or two. He looks like he has talent no matter what car he is in.

Worst case scenario, Hamilton will have to place 2nd if Alonso wins because of the P1 tie breaker.
If it goes Kimi, Alsonso, and then Massa (or whoever), Hamilton will have to place at least P4 because the tie breaker goes all the way to how many P4 they each have.
I don't see anyone else that could be faster than Hamilton other than Alonso, Kimi, and Massa.
Hamilton better pray that Alonso doesn't have a good qualifying.

Unbelievable! To get online this morning to see the results...let's just say I wasn't expecting this one! Hammie's tires were unreal...how could he team think they could last??? Did Hammie make the call to stay out longer?
To see both STR cars in the top 8 was incredible too! Vettel's getting docked places then taken away only to get docked again and then to finish in 4th was most certainly a roller coaster ride! Button getting 5th was great too.
Certainly makes Brazil a good one. Wonder who will be going light to ensure pole?
Wow! Just wow!

Damn, this is exciting from a sporting standpoint, but depressing for us Hammie fans. Brain fart I guess. This will be the most exciting final race in like 20 years...

I can't understand why they left Hamilton out on those tires for so long....
Anyways, that was a GREAT race! Brazil can't come soon enough now!

So? (in a childish..."so-what-if-I'm-guilty" voice)
I guess he does have some human components.
Alright, so let's re-group and get 'em in Brazil!!!

I really don't have anything else to add other than that is the most ridiculous dnf I've ever seen. It really was a rookie mistake.

I clearly remember them modifying the "push the car out of harms way" rule at the beginning of the year when they took the crane and moved his ass. So i was thinking that he was going to be in trouble any ways even if he did get the car back to the pits.

In 20 years of watching F1, this is the most stupid mistake I have ever seen. Worse than Senna turning left instead of right at Monaco and heading straight on into a wall while leading the race.
The tire was already coming apart! Who stays out like that?

23. 10-07-2007 03:27 PM #223
he said his mirrors were very dirty and thought the car felt o.k. to stay out a bit longer so he took a chance, oh well makes the last race ever more interesting, o yah and go kimi!!!!

Lewis Hamilton actually made the sports section of the Ny Times. Unbelievable!

And that would give the championship to Kimi!!! But honestly, I think Alonso is too smart for that.
