You met Jason! He's a big air cooled guy but he loves TDIs. He has a dope Beetle, a Thing, (2 if you count that his girlfriend bought one too) a Westy Vanagon, and probably more that I'm forgetting.

That used to be my Corrado! I bought it with a blown charger, rebuilt the motor top to bottom and scored a rebuilt Bahn Brenner Charger with low miles, smaller pulley and better outlet. It was a ****ing cool car for 3 days until the infamous charger grenaded... It was from a wrecked Rado and had been sitting forever. My guess is it had a dry rotted seal that blew. It proceeded to fill my motor up with oil, blow a piston ring, and score my block. I cut my losses and sold everything for suuper cheap and Jason bought my shell. I miss that car. I'll own another one someday.

Heres how the 633 turned out lowered and with the new wheel/tires... The springs have been on for about a month now and are riding great.

Also, My '84 Saab 900 Turbo is for sale if anyones interested. $3500ish. 92,000 miles. Up to date on maintenance. Fresh Full Synthetic done today. The car is in great shape.

Scott that looks phenomenal! Also I saw the FS ad on Eurowerks for that Saab... Cool, very cool.

I think I saw you and honked or flailed at you the other day too, maybe by Rice Lake and Arrowhead? No idea what car I was in. lol

That's cool. So it had the supercharged motor in it? I heard those are complete junk. That car was friggin cool! He had the TDI badge on the rear and I didn't see him behind me, and I rode my bike up to the car and said "I didn't know Corrados came with a TDI?" and he snuck up behind me and said "They don't". LoL! It was funny. Nice car!

And that white BMW coupe is sick! Very sleek lookin car!

Finally! The VW dealer by Wal-Mart should be open in May. I drove by today and all the cars are in the lot and everything is in place except for the VW signage.

It will be nice to be able to get genuine VW parts sooner than ordering. Hopefully they don't mark up the prices just because they are in Duluth (like many other companies do ).

How many guys on here are golfers? Any interest in a get together for maybe a round of golf or two? Lester or Enger...?

Just a thought. Mostly interested in getting a GTG going in Duluth here...

Btw, this is my second year of golfing and I am not very good. Last year I got 8 stitches in my hand after a razorblade accident and was out 1/2 the season. I've golfed about 80 holes so far this year though...

Yeah, she's just in there for an oil change... I need to pick it up, just haven't had time. I thought it had a bad wheel bearing, but they don't see anything wrong with it. So that's good I suppose.

    Hey guys,

Found this thread about a week ago and thought I'd introduce myself. My name's Erik and I'm local to the area. Bought a '97 black GLS last May and am slowly moving through the common headaches; regulators, MAF, ignition coil and the alarm bypass. Otherwise, I love the thing. Not an ounce of rust and the only thing missing inside is the rear ashtray. I use it as a daily driver and my work vehicle for sales and yes, I hate that... I'm slowly developing ideas to customize it, like a roof rack remniscent of the vintage beetle racks using the votex rack and maybe some interior mods. I'll post pictures of these, but I'm pretty sure you all know what a clean mk3 gls looks like.

Outside of that, I'm reaching some of my limits. I've got the bentley manual, but my car's acting up. I did the alarm bypass in February and everything seemed great until about 3 weeks later. Every so often, when I'd start it up, the doors would all lock and neither my drivers-side window switch or center-console lock-switch would work. I could manually pull up my lock and that would seem to fix that problem. About a month ago, this started happening every time I start it up. Does anybody here have a decent handle on these systems or the wiring within my door?

I forgot to mention that I'm waiting for a new aux fan motor, so until I get that, I'm not using AC and I doubt I'll really enjoy any warm weather we get!!

Other than my near novel above, I love what some of you guys are doing with your cars. Does anyone ever meet up anywhere for beers here? I'm about two blocks west of chester park, so my destination of choice is usually sir ben's. I know a group of vintage bike guys like to meet up there.

Welcome! I got to school at UMD so we should probably cross paths once in a while. Anything about your car that I could recognize if I saw it?

I've got a roof rack that I might be interested in selling towards the end of this year (I know it's a long time away).

    Maybe the ignition switch?

I don't have A/C either, but I absolutely love the heat, so I can't relate with you on that.

Don't know if I want to sell the rack right now (I like the rarity), but just the Racks are going for about $220. The Fairing would be another $80 (super rare), and the basket new on eBay is $110, so probably $55 (I would include all the stainless clamps I am using).

My car is getting there, got the fuel lines hooked up in bay last night, have to order a few more fittings for the fuel lines back by fuel tank so I'll have 6AN lines for 98% of the car... 2.5" aluminum pipe should be here tomorrow so I can start cutting and chopping and make new Intercooler lines as my old ones don't work.. Its getting there slowly but surely

Yeah I think he even has a TIG welder, Its funny all the years I've talked to him on here I have never met him....

I know Northstar aerospace would probably do it, but they get pricey on other stuff besides powdercoating....
