i dunno if anyone would be into posting progress pics of their denim but i figured i'd make a thread for you cats to do so.

my nudie slim jim dry japans have been in use since November 22nd (give or take a day, i forget). out of the 117 days passed i've worn them 106 days.. and less now that it's almost summer. heeere's how they're turning out. no rinse or soaks. heavily starched about once a month.

      post yours.

here are my gap straight selvedge, i got these in January and wore them everyday for about a month and then off and on for the last month so they probably have about 40-50 wears in them so far, no wash, no soak, a few stratches

H&M raw sliq, worn maybe 10 times or so, soaking right now, trying to shrink them a bit

106 days without a wash? How do you guys avoid smelling bad? I understand wearing them in for character, etc.... but what about the smell?

you can hang them outside to air out and one trick is to put them in a ziplock and but them in the freezer, that kills the bateria

i've never done any of that, i usually take them off and throw them on a hanger. they've never been hung outside or put in the freezer, and they honestly don't smell at all. if you put your nose up to them they smell a tiny bit stale, but there's definitely not a stench coming from them. it could be the starch that's keeping them smelling the same.

I'm leaving my personal opinion on this subject out, but what about smoke? Even if you don't smoke, do you never go out to a bar/club/lounge/party?

yes actually, you're right. smoke is the worst thing, it's stinks up your clothes like no other. i've only worn these once to a club and surprisingly they were okay, the slight smell of smoke went away after a couple days. i think i got lucky though.

i wore my diors to the strip club on friday night when i got home i threw them on the stairway railing and they are still there and smell fine now

For whatever reason my raw Earnest Sewns don't smell after a few wears like other non-raw jeans I've owned (paper denim, 7fam, diesel). I've been wearing them every day since I got them 1.5 months ago, except maybe once or twice. When I go to bars, I hang them up and the next morning they smell fine.

no smoking indoors in NY is only good for keeping my clothes un-stanked.

It makes me think ... is there any kind odor resistance in natural indigo?

depends on the color of your seats... they WILL rub off, but it depends on if you can see it or not my 02 gti sport seats have a slight blue tint to them

What is this startching you guys speak of??

as for me, most jeans are best when washed, cause after the dryet they shrink just right, sometimes they might need a few lunges lol around the house to strech out a tad bit.

ill usually wear them 3-4 times each before washing,

actually who has tips for tearing and such? my g'f needs to alter some of my pairs ive never seen her do it but she says she uses a stone or a cheese grater?

im wearing my h&m raws now, they have become my everyday jeans, i know they are hard to break in but for $40 i have no complaints! im getting some nice honeycombs and stacking with them!

i gave my gap raws a soak and wash in the tub last night for the first time, i got them in Jan and have worn them maybe 60 times with no wash and was gonna go longer but they got really muddy on saturday so it was time, they are starting to get some nice fading

Did the Gaps shrink at all that you noticed? I thought the straight rigids were one wash.

Just soaked my STFs. Bought em just to 'play' with, soak em, shrink em, whatever....anyway, soaked em and what seemed to be ALOT of color came off. They are still laying in the tub, I just let the water drain out while they laid there. Gonna let em sit for a while before hanging them up to dry and seeing how they turn out.

you should wear them while they dry.

they 'shrink to fit' your legs.

thats only if they are THAT tight... if they are baggy at all, then wearing them while they dry only kinda sets in the creases and what not.

Yeah, I don't have the body to have them shrink to my legs They are a little baggy, and I really wounldn't be that bummed if they shrunk so much they didn't fit anymore. Only 30.00 lost. I just wanted something to soak to give me an idea of color loss, size difference, etc. Been toying with the idea of getting some Nudie Straight Svens (Raw Indigo). 180.00 shipped doesn't seem too bad compared to what I've seen other places charging, so I might just have to do it.

I posted a pic of my APC hipsters in the WDYWT thread, check them out they were only $112 to my door and have a very straight fit. They would be comparable to the straight svens I think, but sit more on the hip, only difference.

If they shrunk 3" they will still be long. I am going to call the denim bar today and see what they say.
