Thread: 718/516/212(917,347,646) Crusie to Show n Go

  1. 04-13-2007 12:59 AM #1
We thedubNutz gruppe will be hosting a cruise to Show N Go from McD's in Greenpoint Brooklyn.
As of now the cruise looks to be about 25 deep.

    WHO: thedubNutz enthusiast gruppe

WHAT: hosting a cruise to Show N Go

WHERE: From our current Thurs. night meeting spot. The McD's in Greenpoint Brooklyn (corner of Kingsland Ave & Meeker Ave in Greenpoint 11222)

WHEN: Sunday morning April 22nd. We meet @ McD's @ 7am sharp! We hit the road @ 7:15 sharp.

WHY: to have thedubNutz members and any other chill vDub'ers cruise together down to Englishtown. Its more fun and you get some nice pics/videos of a lot of vDubz crusing together.

*Leaving this early allows us to stop & regroup after tolls, etc for non EZPass cars.
You get there earlier than the crowds, the long ticket/registar lines, etc.
You get to prep you ride if your showing
You also get first dibs @ the swap vendors
    You avoid traffic

    ** Our Route-
We meet @ Mc'Ds in Brooklyn.
We take Meeker to the BQE on ramp and head over the Williamsburg Bridge to Delancy St. We cross lower Manhattan and take the Holland tunnel to turnpike South>
~ Take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 9, follow the signs to Route 18 South. Go six miles to the Englishtown exit. Take Route 527 South five miles. Make a left onto Pension Road (Raceway Park billboard on left). Go 1/4 mile, track entrance on the left.

-cutting across lower Manhattan via Willaimsburg Bridge is better (road wise) than taking the BQE to the Manhattan Bridge.

How to get to the meeting spot:

here's your map, just ad your staring point. Its that easy.

Time to get everything in order for Sunday morning-

Guys, if your coming with us & have 2 way radios, Bring em!

Please bring your (or your mons, uyour girls, etc) EZ Pass if you have one. Otherwise try to get some change in advance so the toll collecter isnt breaking $100's

Fill up your Gas tanks on Saturday. I know its cheaper in NJ, but have @ least enough to safely get you there.

    Were meeting up @ McDubz @ 7a, Sharp! ... Were leaving @ 7:15 sharp!

use the map link above or ask if you need better directions

not sure what thread it was in, but someone from DJD (iirc) asked about meeting somewhere on RT. 18 just outside show n go, I replied but never heard back. I'm game to meet with other cruises along the way.

After some discussion last night, A few of us decided it might be better to meet @ McD's around 6:45 am on Sunday just to go over a few things b4 we get on the road. ...We'll see, but will be taking off @ 7:15 sharp.

    Heres the short version:
    please....
    -Be gassed up on Saturday!
-Bring or borrow an EZ Pass if you can.
    -Chk. your tires pressures
-Overall visual inspection for a safe ride ( belts, CV's, lug nuts, etc )
-Bring your parts if you want to sell them, Were also getting a used vendor spot (* anyone selling will have to pitch in about $5 for this )

**** We are getting some water, snacks, etc to keep @ the tent @ our vendor spot (* this will be about $5 per person ) but still much less than water a warm water will cost you @ the concessions.

    ---- Who's Bringing What:
    Kenver- Ice, Water, snacks
    Cello- Tent and chairs
    Keith- chairs & cooler
Roman- just a few chairs, maybe a luv seat
    Jarek- that fresh new whip!

--- Everyone else(dubNutz)- bring your parts to sell, 2 way radios, help w/ the tent/chairs, etc.
*Please mark a price on the parts that your selling.

    $$$ ---- Costs-
used vendor $30 ( split by gruppe members)
    Showing ( car & driver) $25
    spectator- $15
    1/4 mi. ?

    48 hours till you'll be parked @ E Town

Guys Post your Pics from our Cruise in Here as well.

I want to thank everyone who joined us for a great day yesterday. For showing up on time, being prepared & for sticking together during the cruise.
As far as I know, there were no accidents or tickets issues for any of us & no flyting tents.

Although we did witness a T bone collision just outside the tunnel, had a detour from a downed power line on RT18, and a few people had gotten lost or had troubles on the way home.
I guess its all part of the adventure.

I also want to thank everyone who helped me unload, etc when I fianlly got home (only to see my smashed GLI) for you guys, for the idiot driver on my block.

    * A few quick things.
I gave my 2 way Motorola Radio(purple) to someone in the morning, I forget who it was but could you just bring it to McD's on Thursday night or IM me. thanks

I paid $30 for the Vendor/tent area-I am just going to withdraw this from our gruppe balance.

We gained another new member yesterday.
Paul, w/ the MK4 GTI (Joeys bro) Welcome to the gruppe

I personally had a rushed day & was not able to take any photos this time. or even see the show cars. I was busy looking for parts, helping w/ the vendor location & set up, dealing w/ my wife about GLI hit & run @ home, trying to be around for the judges/prep my car/registering it, and planning on leaving early to go direclty to work ( while managing toget my suit & gear to my job for me), and then having to deal w/ my 'out of the blue, chity running Corrado that barely got me back to NY, though the even worse Holland Tunnel traffic kept it from runing @ all. I finally made it to work(on time) and now it runs ok and its over.
What a day, I left out a few details too. ( end of rant)
