larryccf1 The thickness is .1875". The weight of the Stressbrace is ~6lbs.

  9. 04-15-2007 01:16 AM #9
    So 3 questions:

    1. How difficult is the install?
    2. What functional changes are made in the car? I mean obviously I lose the ability to put the rear seat down and do a pass-through, but anything else? I assume I can keep the back seats in the car?
    3. What change would I see in driving dynamics?

    1. The install is not difficult BUT you must be careful when installing nutserts as you basically get one chance and it is best to have a professional install it. Tomas Sport Tuning is in the Bay Area and can do the install in about an hour.
    2. The profile of the Stressbrace allows *most* thin longer items to be passed over. The Stressbrace can be used with the seat in the upright and folded position. For especially large items the Stressbrace can be removed in about two minutes with a T handled hex wrench.
    3. Dynamically the Stressbrace substantially tightens up the rear of the car. It produces quite noticeable handling changes as well as eliminating most creaking and flexing of the rear of the car.
    4. There are almost 100 units on the road already. Rather than listen to me ask those who have it installed.

  11. 04-15-2007 03:25 AM #11
    My question is this:

For those who have the original, and want to upgrade to the newer, stronger design, WILL THE NEW ONE PLUG RIGHT IN TO THE OLD NUTSERTS?

I dont see any problems in installing this together with the Yarrowsport rear strut brace but can anyone clarify this please?

Bill aka WRH3 I believe you have or had both installed at the same time

azsightsound: Yes, the holes and mounting are in the same place. I have switched to the 2nd Generation Stressbrace on my car.

FiftyPence: There is NO conflict between the Yarrowsport mounting location and the TST Stressbrace. If you already have the Yarrowsport you are good to go.

Yes, I installed the YarrowSport first and rather than removing it and replacing the plastic panels, I figured it couldn't hurt to leave it installed and it works fine in parallel with the TST brace. Never can be TOO solid

Hello, The V2 is not available without a logo, but it is more subtle in person within the car than the photos show. Thanks for your interest.

version 1.0 is definitely one of my favorite mods..... for a great product

  23. 04-15-2007 11:45 AM #23
The first version helped a lot... but I'm not sure if there's any real benefit to upgrading unless the new design is solving a structural/material issue that was originally prone to failure. However, it's pretty cool that it fits the MK5 now too... not that it needs it anywhere near as much

the new one does look more "custom," as the sides are contoured instead of straight. i bet functionally they are indistinguishable.

Yeah, I have no plans to upgrade, between the TST1 and Yarrowsport braces I hope the rear is solid

You can always add the HPA Club Sport Rollbar too and have the "Stiffness Trifecta"

Yes, I was thinking about that and if we had harness holes in our Koenig seats, I would do it for the harness bar. Since that is not an option it is a harder call for me to make.

The generation 1 Stressbrace weighed ~6lbs. I have not weighed the production version of the generation 2 Stressbrace, but it should be close to that.

Our plan is to have the Stressbraces from the manufacturer at the end of the month in time for the R32 GTG. They will ship just after that or be brought to the R32 GTG.
