    Thread: my "shaved bay" revealed

    1. 04-20-2007 03:04 PM #1
I don't really care what any of you think about my rattle canned bay.

Its my car, I like it, not yours, if you don't like it, well than go smoke a blunt today is 4/20

well it started off, "i'm gonna just grind and shave a few unneeded bolts

then I contact Tracerturbo2 and start asking him all about shaved 2.0 bays, then he sends me a diagram and thats when it all happened

after getting that diagram I started to rip everything out of the bay
then I primed it (yes with rattle cans)

got the main harness out, after days of fustration

sent my old harness to Tracerturbo2
and he started to work on my new harness since I hacked the **** out of mine

added a filler neck and relocated power steering

then shaved the driver's side of the bay with the ingreedents of metal from lowes, JB weld, and bondo

then after hours of sanding we have this

then a few days later i do the same process and shave the other side

now my car looks like this

then I rip out the dash

then I get some money to buy some paint (rattle cans) duplicolor
and paint the bay, I masked off everything and we have this

now I'm waiting for my main engine harness to come in

I think a lighter color would've been better. Or, some more color on the engine itself. But, props for doing your own work. Good luck

I want to give you crazy props for such an undergoing but did I read correctly that a proper welder was never even used?

Won't the JB Weld break at it's points when the car flexes with everyday driving?

I hope you're cleaning the engine and block too.

Looks like it needs some Gunk and water

is this like the 4th introduction of your bay???

    6. 04-20-2007 03:18 PM #6
      thank you all

from what i hear JB is strong, and I'm hoping it holds up.

the reason for the black paint job is because, no one is perfect, of course theres some imperfections, the black will hide some of those imperfections

this has been soo much work, and I'm just hoping after I wire it up it will start.

I think it was guessed in one of you other threads that the reason for black was to cover up imperfections. Not knocking that, especially when doing your own work. But, like I suggested earlier, maybe try adding color or something striking on the engine to bring it out more so it doesn't look like a complete void in there

I have a chrome rad support, going on, chrome valve cover, a/c lines are polished, polished brake booster line cover that goes on the firewall, manifold is polished, and I painted my trans with a silver paint, plus the filler is polished

You ever think about adding pinstriping to certain areas of the bay to bring out some colour?

      hahaha
since when did having an affinity towards a certain level of quality workmanship, and attention to detail warrant the branding of the word bitches?

      how about this.
**** you for letting people believe that half ass bull**** like this is worthwhile.

Quit making so many damn threads about your diy shaved bay. I've seen the same thread repeated over about 3 times. We get the point.

      Quit being a ****ing whore.
