At long last, the iPhone 5 officially comes to T-Mobile for $99 down, just in time to hop on T-Mo's LTE network where available, and their 42mbit HPSA+ everywhere else. If T-Mo can get their customer service problems under control, they might even stop the bleeding marketshare!

I'm sure I missed something, but why is T-Mobile still an entity?

Because our socialist government wouldn't allow them to merge with AT&T.

Working with the #1 company for customer service can only help. Afterall, you don't team up with Apple and not realize whats expected.

    Thats just being stupid...

The merger ultimately failed because it would negate the reason to break up Ma Bell.

FYI, Apple does not provide refurbished iPhones. Other companies yes, but not Apple. What you are referring to is just an out of warranty repair. The replacement service phones comes with a 90 warranty as well.

I went back to Apple to confirm and it would only be a discount on a brand new phone. No refurbished. I talked to Bell and they didn't have anything in their stores but said that they possibly offered them online. No luck there. Another carrier offered refurbished phones online but not iPhones. I did find a few online places that sold them though.

Luckily though, one of my friends was selling his old iPhone. Identical to mine so I bought it. Swapped it over last night and so far so good. It's already an unlocked phone so I can switch carriers easily when the time comes. So unless this phone craps out on me too I am set for the next little while.

Now I'm just going to give this new phone some time to make sure it's good. When that is confirmed, my old phone will have a date with my sledgehammer. 5 months of frustration released in mere seconds.

My iMessage just randomly stopped working. I've tried rebooting the phone and turning iMessage off and on again but still won't work. Anybody know why? It works on my MBP.

Think it might've went down earlier for some users. Apple says it should be fine now.

This isn't true. I'd be curious to know the source of your information. See below.

If it came in a fancy box with every accessory, you got a new phone. If no box or accessories, you got a refurbished phone.

I've got the ZAGG Perimeter in clear. $25. It's a tight fitting bumper with black rubber edges. AUX port will only fit OEM Apple or recessed head accessories. Been about a month or so. Have a shield on the front and skin on the back.

You're absolutely wrong. This is not a refurbished device. It is a device built from the ground up to be used in warranty service, with a unique serial number. The only comparisons you can make is that Apple reserves the right the use refurbished components in all it's warranty service. Stop murking the waters.

Well, my iPhone 5 showed up today... AT&T.

I'd been having a lot of call drop issues, etc, with my Nexus 4. Decided to go back to what works. Yes, I know about the different APN's, and I tried them all.

Fact of the matter is, I run a business off of my phone, and having a call drop every time I answer a customers call is not going to work.

Anyways, I'm definitely happy, I can't believe how beautiful this device really is, it's pretty damn awesome.

I will say, I've had iPhones in the past... As a matter of fact, my list goes something like this:

    iPhone 2007
    iPhone 3G
    iPhone 3Gs
    iPhone 4

Then I switched to Googs, it is nice though that I can just log into iCloud and insert new contacts through that, with a keyboard, rather than doing it via phone.

Also, is there any way to get rid of the news stand? Or is that a permanent fixture I'm going to have to deal with?

There used to be a trick to get it dropped into a folder so it wouldn't be taking up a spot on your home screen but I think recent iOS updates have prevented it...or I'm just getting old and too slow at it haha.

Don't feel bad; I couldn't get it to work either. I just have it on the back page with nothing else. There might be a JB tweek that can eliminate it but I don't have an issue with it so far.

Guess I have LTE now. I was surprised, it just got turned on in this area. For reference, we didn't have 3G service here until 18 months ago. Live in a small town in rural Arkansas that's 120 miles from any town with 100k people.

Needless to say, I'm happy to have it.

    hey guys,

I've got an unlocked iPhone 5 (bought in a US apple store). Now I need to get a US number with data and minutes, no contract. What's the best option?

1.Straight Talk - No nano sim (I would have to cut down their normal GSM sim)
2.T-Mobile, no 3G in the area I would be using it, so it would need to be always on 4G network
    3. At&t? I asked two different shops, they said pay as you go customers can't get data on their phones...

I need it pretty soon, so I would appreciate any suggestions
