My boss told me to uninstall the iOS update 5.1.1 today, he said his phones been hanging and rebooted twice on him.
I told him back then on iOS 5.0.1 to jailbreak his phone so I can keep his blobs on cydia, instead he updated to iOS 5.1 and now he updated to the latest it's too late.
He's the kind of IT boss that wants all his personal stuff to get the latest and greatest updates and expect the newest updates to always work the best.
I never tell him straight but imo, updating to the latest software is always rolling the dice. He said Jailbreaking iPhone is inviting hackers, I giggled a little inside. It's ok, I know most folks are anti-JB that's OK.
I was berated by many managers years after years about iPhones being inferior to Blackberry my boss himself had claim that the iPhone is a toy. Today, he has a 27" iMac, iPad, iPhone, and Core i7 MBA. They gulped down that Kool-aid faster than most Mac fans.
Today, 1/2 of those managers all have iPhone and iPad. They're just a bunch of hypocrites.
Sliding keyboard = moving parts = malfunctions. I had one of those samsung slider phones back in the day and the screen was supposed to turn on when you slid the keyboard out. Well after almost a year of use it stopped recognizing the sliding motion and the screen wouldn't turn on. Ended up throwing it on the floor at work, breaking the screen, and bought an HTC Fuze ...then left that one on my sunroof in a parking lot and it fell off, then bought an iPhone.
A buddy's gf had the slider keyboard i was playing with for a little bit. She likes to feel the keys (i feel like this is just turning into a texting-while-driving excuse now ?) and says she can type faster. I know i can type faster with my touch screen. It's great for her because the added size doesn't bother her, it just sits in her purse all day. For me i would absolutely hate it, having the extra bulk in my pocket.
Cool idea, designed pretty well, worked very well for me, but added size is a negative for me
I thought I would miss my keyboard coming to my 4S (bought last Monday!) from my BlackBerry 9700, BlackBerry 8130, and HTC WinMo something-or-another phones I've used over the last 5 years.
The touch screen gave me a bit of a learning curve, but I'm at the point where I don't miss it. I still like my iPad keyboard better due to not needing to switch to symbols just to put in a comma, among other things. It is becoming more natural though.
No need for a slider attachment here.
Does anyone use a battery case for extended life? I'm up in the air between the Mophie Juice Pack Plus and Sol Solar Powered Case; I've been able to mess around with the Mophie case but still haven't seen the Sol in person. Does anyone use either of these or recommend another option?
Looking for a little help here.
My girlfriend's iPhone 4 (16gb, AT&T) is acting up, not sure why. It sporadically shuts off on her, sometimes it won't charge, and occasionally it'll do a quick restart mid-day, and come back and say "activation required - connect to iTunes".
My thoughts is that it's got a bad battery, but I took it to an Apple 'genius' who ran it through a diag and he said it was coming back with no errors, hardware or software. He then told me it was out of warranty and if we wanted, we could buy a new refurb iPhone 4 from him for 199.00
I did a restore on it a couple of times and the issue still continues, so I'm pretty sure it's hardware based, but I just have no idea how to tell what's wrong with it.
Anyone know how to restore from an older (one day old) backup?
Something went wrong with my phone and all my pictures are deleted.
When I right click my iPhone icon to "restore from backup" it just shows my most recent backup (~ five minutes ago).
Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone
Gonna attempt the new jailbreak tonight. One question though for those of you who've done it. I read the how-to on greenpois0n's site and they have you do a restore after the jailbreak is complete to get back all your data. Now, if you want to get rid of the jailbreak all together, will doing another restore get ya there or is there something else that needs done?
So I've got a factory unlocked iPhone 3GS, activated it with an AT&T SIM card, then slipped in my T-Mobile SIM card and used it merrily for a month. Not being being able to leave well enough alone, I decided to get a different T-Mobile SIM card, this one with unlimited texting and web, and 100 minutes of talk time for $30 a month. That one is a "new" customers only prepaid plan, hence the new SIM as opposed to just changing the plan.
Activated the new SIM, inserted it into aforementioned iPhone, and ta da! No service! Meh, let's just put the other one back in. Yay! Also no service. WTF?
So, how do I fix this?
Did the jailbreak this past Friday. So far so good. Ah I didn't realize how much I missed NoSpot and SBSettings. Anyone have a repo for IntelliscreenX cracked?
On the eve of a possible new iPhone announcement next week I went to double check my eligibility. Typically I'm eligible for an upgrade every year because my family plan is over $100. So, I always end up selling my current iPhone for the same price a new upgrade one costs. I have been doing that since the first iPhone and haven't paid for a single upgrade all these years.
I go to check the eligibility and I no longer can upgrade every year. I now have to wait the typical 2-year cycle. Did anyone else notice this?
