Just got the new iPhone about an hour ago from FedEx. Gonna wait till Friday to set it up. Wanna get one of those bumpers or cases for it first. Also is anyone even using the screen protectors anymore with the new glass they are using that is mega scratch resistant? Any opinions on either would be nice

      The screen is just unbelievable!

BTW, upgraded/restored straight from an OS 3 3G with no problems.

One thing I REALLY miss not being jailbroken right now is the talkbar reminder app from Cydia (and installer before that) with the little icons up top when you have text, email, voicemail, etc....

I looked in the app store and don't see anything like it either.

Why would Apple not approve something like that?

      What exactly does Applecare cover?

According to the details on Apple's site it cover:

      Your Iphone
      Battery
      Included earphones and accessories

Doesn't say anything about limitations or not covering damage so am I assuming correctly that it would cover the phone if it was dropped?

I wouldn't bet on it. There were several weeks after the original iPhone was introduced where Apple Stores were instructed to cover accidental damage, but it was very hush-hush, and I think they only did so to help ease adoption. Because at that time, NO ONE was selling glass-front cell phones. These days, I sincerely doubt they'd cover accidental damage, unless it's pretty clear that the circumstances should definitely not have caused damage. But that's a hard case to sell.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Apple has ever covered any product under Apple Care when there's obvious physical damage to the product. I would be running out the door right now to buy it if they did cover a dropped iP4...but I highly doubt it will.

I was originally thinking the screen wouldn't be this good... boy was a insanely wrong. Side by side comparison from a 3G to 3GS to 4G is nuts (don't think there is a difference between 3G/S). The phone has a good weight to it as well. Feels solid. Only took one phone call and it sounded much better than my 3G (could be due to my phone being old and crappy lol).

And uh... when I touch my phone, it still has 5 bars

I clicked. I gripped my phone so that my thumb and pointer finger of both hands covered the entire band and my wireless connection got better... does that count?

Apple has addressed that it's a signal display issue, supposedly your dbm (real strength) is the same, and they are working on a fix.

Thats a lie on their part because you can see in the videos that when the signal strength meter goes down they either drop a call or can't make one.

Someone posted a speedtest video as well with high and low signal as well and it drastically different.

How could you say such a thing? I mean, it's an apple product and Jim has said it's the best of the best, and he knows engineers at apple. Surely you are mistaken. /sarcasm

A few more youtube videos emerged from other iphone4 recipients- and almost all showed the lost of signal when 'holding' the phone, touching the aluminum band/ant. However, one particular video may have revealed that Only if both antenna were in contact with the skin/hand at the same time is when the antennae shorts and loses reception. As you can see with the design of the alum band, there are 3 gaps (one on each side, and one on top) It seem that both antennas cancels each other out when they are touched at the same time, the handler being the conductor. The video showed that if you held it on each side, just above each 'gap' on the sides, that the reception stays good.
It is obviously a hardware issue- hoping they can come up with a fix to prevent 'shorting' or cancelling each other [ant] out when held at the same time
Then again, i hold my phone (if not using BT) on each side- so i dont see a problem (for me)

DEZL_DUB and syntrix were talking about iOS 4 on older devices. Apple hasn't addressed what's up with the antenna issue yet. Probably best to leave the "YOU LIE!" to the South Carolinians.

annnnnnyways everyone....I just activated mine about two hours ago and I cant get over the speed of this thing. And the build quality. But most of all.....that SCREEN. It's beautiful.

So here are some comparison shots between the 3G and the 4.

both phones set to 3/4 brightness....looks very similar from here...

...but not from here...the level of detail is staggering.

...from an angle the improvements are even more amazing.

      and just for fun...
