Over the weekend I removed the front and rear R32 emblems. Front was easy, the rear took a hair dryer, dental floss, goo gone, finishing polish, a wax, and about 1 hour. I think the car looks cleaner without em.

      Installed the VF Mounts

And, removed the cats for a SuperSprint testpipe

Had the C2 flash done today by DBC Performance here in San Antonio and wish I had done it long ago. It is everything they claim .....power you can feel, more growl, and very smooth. Had the APR for over 5 years and C2 is a definate upgrade.

I built a low speed fan fix speed control. It will be installed on Saturday.
When I first found out the low speed cooling fan circuit used resistors which like to overheat and die I thought I would design an electronic speed control as I've built quite a few for radio control cars. Google brought me to the nime site, their design seemed simple and effective so I may have copied most of it...

I did a quick bench test and calibration, so far it all looks good. I just need to solder on the three wires, add some foam so nothing can vibrate and seal it up.

Custom catback exhaust utilizing magnaflow components. Nothing too pretty, just functional. Lost a decent amount of weight and can now utilize the 2nd tailpipe hole for a tow hook (nice that the factory has a nutbar already welded up there).

BTW, it sounds awesome, just a tad louder and deeper then the factory exhaust with a flapper mod. I stuck with factory size tubing.

Nope...VCDS won't do it...need to find someone with vag dash com to get it to work.

Very impressive list. I got a ton of cool stuff lately myself.
      Here's what I did tonight.....

I learned how to make this guy communicate with this guy

I can play audio or use the phone through Bluetooth. NO wires, even with Pandora. This setup is full of W.I.N. !!

Got my UNIbrace in. Finally. I've only had it for 7-8 months (but then I've only had the R for a year, so I don't feel totally lame). It was hanging out in the basement for a while. Made a good drying spot for delicate washables, anyway!

Car feels great. Feels better going in a straight line also... which I'm not sure I understand. Maybe that's all in my head (vehicular placebo effect). I imagine it'll only be a week or so till I'm used to it and then not so aware anymore. This is what happened with my old GTI.

So having installed one of these previously, 3-4 years ago (in said GTI)... I am at a loss as to why this time around it took me longer.

      for Bruce's awesome design.

I started spring break off today the right way! (with a couple snags)

First I washed the car. It's been 2.5 weeks since she's been washed (one of the longest I've let) and got her ready for installation of:

      Hankook Ventus v12 Evo's (225/40/18)
Streetwerke Defcon2 Control arm spherical bearings and new bushings
Replaced my lopsided strut mounts with the VWMS mounts
Replaced the VF engineering dogbone mount bushings -- the difference is night and day.
      Replaced subframe bolts
      Alignment
Ripped out the ABS sensor and now I have 4 yellow dash lights (airbag, brake pads, ABS, and traction control)

I love how she's driving now -- it was a lot of work.. we got weary getting done late into the night... forgot to finish tightening the strut bearing nuts on the driver side somehow the extra one (I use 2 on each strut) which was placed under the wiper stayed there after i went for a spirited drive down the block and a 4 mile drive to Jimmy John's...Then We tightened it at the Jimmy John's when I noticed the perch was loose when showing the gap difference to my friend (LUCKY!!!) Then I had a great drive home on the freeway . Honestly my dogbone bushings weren't that bad looking, but the new ones in and torqued correctly feel amazing now! no synchros gear grinding when WOT and turning. The defcon bearings are amazingly responsive, i've noticed a bit more understeer in throwing the car back and forth, but the future Unib.:Race will get that under control

btw four 225/40/18 tires fit perfectly in our hatch.

took off the snowboard racks, gave it a wash, and got some 3M rubbing compound to buff out smaller scratches. I now somehow feel the need to drive like I'm in a race car now that the racks are off.

I had a dream I sat in it last night :/

It's been a long 3 months, 5 weeks to go.
However, Fk silverlines went on as well as 20mm rear spacers, aristos were powdercoated, and it went into the body shop for some respray.
