Pick of the weekend for me.
Sitting in row J on the wing and watching Essendon win over the Eagles on Friday night. Best game I've seen for ages![]()

And then seeing Spida chesting up for a "You want summa me?" and getting flattenned

Toddy, I won't get on your team's bandwagon until the final siren on the last Saturday in September. Then, and only then, will they lose the handbags tag. You must be thankful for Fremantle as they give the Cats a run for their money when it comes to mental softness.
![]()
And, for one of the few times in recent years ... my team won too.

(Mental note, never speak to Aussie_Golfa again unless using the words "48pt comeback" or "nineteen-ninety-nine").

48 points is a comeback.....pfffft...
This is a comeback - Round 16 2001: The biggest comeback in AFL/VFL history, from a 69 point deficit in a game that showed exactly why Don's should never be written off.
And 1999, I still wake in the dark hours sometimes, bed covers all twisted and the dream still vivid in my head.
I was sitting on the top deck of the Olympic stand, second row.
Last quarter, seconds to go and he whose name shall not be spoken had the ball. All he had to do was kick the f88888n thing: we watched.....and I think my heart stopped beating as I saw him try to fake past fatty Whitnall (If I recollect correctly).![]()
I don't remember much after that, don't even know how I got home.
![]()
But the dreams...........they still happen, on those dark cold nights, when the ghosts of games past come out to haunt us......

Yeah my chardy went down a treat on Saturday arvo when we beat Hawthorn.

That game against the Roos was amazing though, I was driving back from Sydney and had it on the radio. Very exciting. Oddly enough, Pagan's record against Sheeds has most probably improved since he came to Carlton.

Sheedy has to go doesn't he? Hird is a champion.

How is Camporeale going.

After growing up following Geelong, not following AFL for 15 years, and then having a 6 year old boy ask, which team do you follow, and then having to say Geelong - the pain is almost too hard to deal with. However this little boy supports Carlton, because he wants to be a 'Blue Boy' like Lima, so at least we can have some rivalry in the house.
Too many times have Geelong been in this position and not followed through!
#17
Totally agree mate! This town has always been on an emotional rollercoaster that is the ups and downs of the Geelong football club. There is a great depth of talent there and all very young. 18 goal kickers against Richmond, players really standing up and being counted when it matters...I'm excited, but also very realistic.
I went to school with some of them and worked with their best player and regularly see them in my haunts and restaurants I frequent, so its all like watching country footy for me! Plus its good when I am in Mt Gambier to rub it into all the crow eater douche bags when they get beated down by Geelong.

Todd, how many premierships have those douchebags seen? How many have you seen? Maybe they have a right to be douchebags.![]()

Being a feral South Australian myself, I can kind of take solace that I live 1000kms away. I can imagine how bad they'd be.![]()

Geelong kicks clear in dismal conditions at The Cattery...I was there, in the rain. Top day for footy and Spanish donuts in the standing area with some friends!! There is nothing like leaving a venue with the teams song playing over and over with 5000 people cheering and clapping.
#30
Yep.And despite my team's current and ongoing crapness, I've timed my runs to Melbourne recently quite well. The last loss I saw in person was the last game at Optus Oval, but even then the crowd sang the song over the top of Melbourne's that it was like a win.
![]()
Despite the loss, that was a great day. One joker pointed to the scoreboard, and I replied, there's been 6 Carlton premierships in my lifetime, I can remember 5 of the them, how many have you seen?
GO BLUES!!!

Ease up... there have been wins in the past... like the last 6 in a row... they played the song about 10 times. They normally only play it once or twice. 22,000 people there in the pouring rain... you'd struggle to get that to a League game, let alone in the rain! Ha.
