new mk1 1.8t project

hello boys and girls!
im new but was frequently visiting your amazing site.
respect to all of you who spend freetime and bucketloads of money in improving and modding vw cars to perfection!
you have been a big inspiration to me, now is it time to do it myself!!
im a mk1 fan since my first one in 96` and now i bought a nice and 100% rust free 80`modell that was waiting in a nice and warm garage the last 10 years, i just had to buy it! i came along a 1.8t engine gearbox combi from a audi tt and took it without thinking too long.
there is a lot of work to do so im gonna keep you updatet as soon as
can.firs some pics of the stuff that i allready bought and made for my last mk one that i lost to rust at the chassis you may get the idea behind that car!!

after some long hours i finished to clean the doors and chassis
after some more work i testfittet the new frontbumper
i like it a lot cant wait to go back and work more in the meantime check it out!!

It looks like the RS bumper that estrictlyforeign.com offers... kinda steeeeep though at 350....

your right!!
the bumper is a dietrich rs2 bumper.
its kinda expensive here in germany as well.
the doorhandels are audi 89 doorhandel from suspension-supply.de
about 55$ with transport... or even cheaper @ ebay
i finally found a intercooler that fits into the hole in the middle of the bumper just figuring out a way to mount that thing and connect the tubes from the turbo and manifold
i maybe have to drill or cut out some holes for them
ill send som pics when i find a way. stay relaxed

ok i worked on the intercooler and mountet that little su&%$ with 2 solid steel stripes that i forged
now it fits ecsactly in the middle hole of the bumper.
i had to order the samco bends and it seems like i have to wait some more days?weeks? i dont know
today i broke down everything to blast and clean and paint,
so that i have something to do in the waitingtime...

the piping is going to be tricky but luckily im a pipe fitter

today was a gooooood day after i worked the skinn of my hands with grinding, sleeving and sandblasting my rear acsle as a nice tel,call god me exited, yes guys my silicone arrived, finally....oh yeah
but then i realised that i broke down everything to clean blast and paint, so no use at the moment
but fortunatly i got some more work done after this bottomless disapointing 5secs...
i have to tidy up tomorrow....

finally im finished with the front end cleaning; my hands hurt **** never before but now i can see results.
i also sendet the brake calippers and axel mounts to sandblasting and powdercoating, i hope there back by the end of the week.
i just dont want to see anymore undercoat or joint filler in the next days...



tomorrow im gonna seam weld the domes and holes then grinding and smoothen out and i hope by thursday i can begin to paint it.
i want to have the engine back in to start the piping!!! badly
we gonna see..

it a nice texture like wood or somtin its not like sprayed

hey guys
like i said i did! seamwelding at the domes and closing of evry little hole in the front beam today im gonna roll the car on the side and begin to clean the underside, dont be jelous at that kind of work

today i got some new pads and brakelines for my
corrado g60 front and 16v rearbrake setup.
i hope they work well with the original discs, we`ll see...
tomorrow my brakes should be back from sandblasting
so that i can paint and mount them...
what would you think would be a reasonable price for
sandblasting the whole body???

today i got my brake and axle parts back from sandblasting and i imediately painted them so they dont rust...
im also satisfied how the bearing arms came back from powdercoating
enjoy!

and yes im gonna clean the brake discs with thinner tomorrow

hello guys
i talked to the guys at the sandblasting and they didnt really like to blast my car ,i quote: im not shure about the underside i maybe have to spend hours just to get that done!
not amused i say!
so what would u do with a completely partet car and no rotationary?

i had not only undercoat to fight with i also scraped and scrubed an awfull lot of tar from the underside i hope tat it finally can go in sandblasting and prime.
oh i got my cousom driveshafts btw unfourtunately they have been a little on the pricey side of life (400$) with shipping i hope they r worth the money

yes
i ordered like tonns of stuff
most of them arrived already at my moms in germany(where the car gets build)
im actually in norway workin to keep my cashflow to the rabbit up and runnin
in the meantime the only pic of my x-mas presents to me is
what i got from my girlfriend

amanda was all shiney and new about 46 cm and 3400gramms.
ill send pics of the car stuff asap my moms got to figure out how 2send pics as e-mail

so far my rims, tires an oem roofliner(pierced white leather)
arrived all my gauges should be arriving on wednesday....
ill post updates...
