since i had a little waiting time at work today i decidet to fabricate this

    for comparisment my size 11.5
i made another one with a smaller diameter...
two flanges that bolt to another, u can take a guess what it is#
first to find out gets a small star

i have spent the last 20 minutes trying to figure out what this is for.... and the only thing i can think of is trim rings for the speakers

    do i win?

    BTW awesome build

since i OWN the page, i decided to add this pic sincei like it

    go more outside and backwards...

    nope!!
u see my gas cap on one of the last pics allready installed...

  8. 03-29-2008 05:47 PM #113
only other thing i can think of would be a muffler tip ring when you poke it thru a bumper or something like that. you said its not inside, so it isnt for the holes in the floor, for the gas tank access.... there isnt anything else round like that, unless it goes on the wheels themselves? EDIT: i just looked at the rimz again, no way for them. oh well...

oh well, no star for me

    100% right!
when i mount the rear bumper you will see the meaning of the flanges: i donr want an ugly loook of my muffler, lthe ring is gonna be
the perfect penetreation though the rear bumper.
    a little star to speeding
    wait for the rear bumper......
    be patient

  10. 03-29-2008 10:34 PM #115
hahaha i won it after all....

it is the only thing it could be.... after the two hints outside and back more

you get the PN for the brake cables sorted out?

EDIT i found a better pic of mine....

this is the way the calipers come factory.... there s a difference for some MK2 calipers....

MK3 are "upside-down" from this, IIRC.
    :
here is a stolen pic of a factory 16v rocco beam. i think we can all agree that it looks unaltered???

oh yeah.... think of that monster living out in your garage.... just waiting . more like the wet dream, no nightmare LOL

we got some work done and begun to hide the cable three inside the fender/beam and my bro spend all aftenoon on fishing for it
he was swearing like crazy but in the end he got it

since we had to cut the cable three there was solderning involved

    the finished product

we still figuring out the mess in the engine bay

i testfitted the front bumper and found a problem with the indicator fitting

my starter panel fits right into the knee bar like i wanted it

    much more work to come.....

sorry guys i can´t offer pics of my fleet since the project car is my only
car! last night we where working lete to mount the clutch and throttle pedal, funny fabwork

its a clutch master cilynmder from a mkIII
funny position for it but it works perfectly

i build a mounting bracet for the new battery (need some rear end weight

and of course the electronic throttle from a audi tt

my friend basti thought the rear bumper would not fit good enough
so he put some fibergass on it

my bro didnt approve the front bumper beam and all the brackets on it so he took it appart and painted it nicely

and i kept myself buisy with the plumbing for the watercolling, done!

i just love the look of the sweet blue silicone "§%&%
i mounted the wipermotor as well but since i forgot to bring it to the painters it is ugly as h33l, in order to nut hurt your eyes with tat i didnt take a pic

    today was a good day!!
i bought chrome lognuts and lock-nuts

because my rims are back from the painters

here are the others,i am happy

i just needet to check clearance and tuck them on

when we mounted the tires ronny went crazy an wieghtened the wheels to 0 needet some time but defenately worth the affort, he was happy to

the 195/40 give a nice little stretch on the 8 inchers

i just needet to mount them imediataly, nervius.....

i just had to see how the stance is, kw coils in factory setup and the springs never used, so i rolled the car out of the garage into the daylight, never mind the tons of dust on the car

kaboom!!! i almost wet my pants

for the firs time in my thread u see ME
i hope your eyes will not suffer to mutch from my looks

    sorry for beeing a picwhore

the wheels fit perfect with et38 no spacers used anywhere

we where dancing around the car a little but rolled it back into the garage again to do more work
my bro build in the speakers, most people will not notice them there
and i dont needet to cut my doorpanels

we also ran the brake lines but i was too buisy admire my rims to take pics of it
    do you guys like it????

    car is lookin good....

i did not notice until these last pix the body trim line was shaved....

wheels look good. they will not be some peoples "cup of tea" but as long as YOU like them, then they are all good. i like the lip factor on them for sure....

    you asked

one suggestion: that last pic, shows a major no-no.... see, the battery line runs thru that hole. please put either a rubber grommet for it to go thru, or at least 3 layers of heat shrink tubing on it where it goes thru the hole. while you are driving, and that moves it can wear thru the jacket, and "POOF" up in flames goes your rabbit.... and this type of BBQ'd Bunny none of us like to see....

    Jeez!
This is top 3 of the best restoration, projects I have ever come across!
Its only a matter of time before you and your Rabbit are featured in a Vw/Audi Magazine. THAT! I can assure!!
What is something you learned last year that you are going to do differently this year?

the fuse is not really feasible. this is the problem with running the battery in the back. you have to put like a big ass circuit breaker on the line, so the amperage draw from the starter will not pop it. a fuse would just blow.... figure out the pull from the starter, add 20%, and run that size. it will protect the line and will not pop from the starter.

run the battery straight to the starter, thru this circuit breaker. then take a 4GA or from the starter to a block, with about 60-80 amp circuit breaker in front of it. this way your car and your battery are protected if ever you get into the Car-B-Que situation

this is only my advice, and what i would do if i were in this position.... the other thing you could do is run a Ford divorced style starter solenoid for the main starter wire, right off the battery. this, when wired correctly, will only provide power to the big wire to the starter when you are trying to start the car, and not any other time. then, take a 4GA from the battery, into a 80 amp CB right at the battery, run it up front to the fuse block. thus both lines are covered with fused protection. this is probably my first choice in your situation. just tryin to help ya is all...

    carry on....

i dunno what you mean with a 4ga.
maybe it has a different name in german'?!

  27. 04-04-2008 08:47 PM #132
4 gauge wire.... that red wire looks to me in the picture to be like 1/0 cable. typical stick welding lead size.... 4 gauge wire is smaller than that. your whole car does not need something like that to run it. and you can actually run a 2GA for the starter, it should not pull that much, and it only ever runs when you start the car...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_wire_gauge

and this is a good chart to get an idea....

    4 AWG is 4GA....

the bottom chart on this page is good too....

Hey Otti, I'm confused, Are you norwegian or german? Noticed your car had norwegian licence plates in the first pics there?

Also, Your rims are Et 38? 8" ? Do you plan on lower the car anymore? I think you might run into some problems with the rim/tyre rubbing on the springs if you do...?

    thanks guys
i am german! after leaving the army in 2002 i went to spain for a nice job as a bike tourguide and fall in love with a girl living in norway, so i left the equator and moved to the polar circle to live there.
this explains the licence plates(norway) but i do build my new car
in germany cause in norway its muuuuucch more expenisve.
my new car is also going to be registered in germany but driven in norway (only for the summer of course) i need a winter beater later as well. i was thinkin mk4 or somthing
so becides the ovius bad english i do speak a reasonalble spanish norwegian, swedish, rusty russian and of course german.
to bad nobody wants to pay for that i germany.....
im planning to get used to the suspension setup first and let the springs set themselves before i lower the car more...
i have like 3.5cm left to lower before the tire rubbs the springs
but i wanna wait first and get used to the car since the sensation is going to be incredible anyway. i dont want to risk my oilpan on first rollout

grill and cristal headlights together came about 80usd (60euro) on ebay.de
you will find everything if you go to the search and type: golf 1 chrome or golf 1 tuning or golf 1
there is a lot of awsome stuff out there...
