thanks for supporting our littl team with the nice words and tech knowlege everyone!
my friends sended me a pic of how the sideskirts gonna look like
remember my words: 16´s look perfect if one keeps the flares
    sideskirts and big bumpers....

they need to wait to install them until the car comes of the lift
because the car is already so low that it would be impossible to get the lifter arms out from under the car

    good things happened!
ebay brougt me the bigger mirrors and my bro painted them supergood in nice flatblack. they got mounted together with all the other parts that belong to the doors. seals, windows, the door mechanism and the chrome locks went on smoothly!

as you can see im not having any locks that can be bothered by thiefs with skrewdrivers. that is the only electronic feature on my car..
back on with the doorcards and the new and shiney cranks, i just love it

they gonna be stored until all electric works properly so that they dont get damaged in the progress

how low? any more? i've got a while to fool with this for you.. do you have any pics of the car with the bumper or fenders on it? that would look SO much better.

  16. 04-26-2008 11:23 PM #156
me, for my car, no stripes.... i love the blue color solid.... not too big on the stripes. keep it solid...

and i am basing my opinion on the fact that it took me awhile to realize the trim was shaved... the color distracted me...

just my opinion but... I think it would look better with the GTI stripes just on the side not on the bumpers

hell yeah! today we got real progress
my bro got buisy with the flares (they where really beat up after 28 years of gti´in)

the finished product is better than new

since i am a pipe fitter, i finished the intercooler piping!!

as you can see i really like silicone
we trimmed the engine cover to fit the changed manifold

we installed the circut breaker as well

i am very happy and look forward to start the engine hopefully on monday.
the fenders and the missing engine cover will come from the painters on monday so we have to do other stuff first.
tomorrow we will try to get the roofliner done and assemble the handbrake.
a last pic of the engine bay to go....

i choose the one with a brand name on it

i dunno what kind of stuff was on it but i spend 2 hours to get

    i got a working handbrake

even though i was almost crying i needet to cut my nos center console to make the shifter mount fit

if someone has done somthing simular please post pics of how you did it since i am not really satisfied with like it is....
