i know and i want to have a real carbon fiber plate but they are just so hard to come by for a reasonable price, if someone has a source (in europe) just tell me about it. its a temporarely plate until the carbon dash is going to be made....
    until then , stoopid stickers

un plug coil packs and fuel injectors and turn over for a short period.

    fixed it for ya

i did that last night. what i did was put 4 quarts in. then i left the valve cover off, and poured the 5th quart and the additive oil over the cams and chain tensioner. i did not even do it by the key, i just jumped it at the starter. of course, no plugs in it either, makes it easier to turn over without building cylinder pressure.

just cranked it for a bit and i know the oil pump is pushing oil, as it pushed a little up to the oil cooler where the fitting was loose a little came out, so i tightened it up, and continued. i know its all pumped up. when i first turned it over, the tensioner goes up and down like a little shock, up and down. then after a little bit, its pumped up and stays up. so its ready to fire up

and the reason is so you do not wash down the cylinder walls with all that fuel. just leave key off, pull plugs, and jump the starter.....

that car looks great... Could you snap some shots of the motor mounts? I am trying to gather information for the exact same swap on my 83 gti.

maybe shoot me a message telling me where you got the swap parts? Awesome car!

i did the engine mounts in a time when it was impossible to buy the beauty´s that are available now. here on the tex there are many people who have nicer ones, since i used the stock audi tt mounts that are like a big hunk of metal (but that was over a year ago)
i am very unhappy with them but they will work....
    today we finished the exhaust

my chief mechanic ronny finished installing the new rear brakes and
    wheel bearings

sad that we run into major problems with the front brakes
it seem like we cant fit any brake pads into the front brakes
    i am using the rotors of a corrado vr6 280mm x 22mm
and the caliper dont want to open enough to let the pads in

i dont know what to do since i tryed already 5 different pairs of pads
so it seems like i have to buy new calippers
someone got any idea how to come out of the situation cheap and fast??
    thanks for the nice comments

    thanks dudes!
only 2 weeks vacation left i dont think we can get it don on tinme due to the delay from the painters.
    anyways we keep working
today was a little milestone in the build: the first silicone came on the engine many more to come

i mountet the oilcooler nicely and connectet it to the engine

on with the whole cooling radiator stuff!!!

we installed the fuel filler neck as well but i forgot the car keys at home i didnt need them for sooooooo long so i could not put on my fuel cap

i hope that my new brake calippers will show up tomorrow
that we can finish with the brakes.
the cables for the e-brake turning into a nightmare since the cables from a 16v scirocco are not produced anymore
i run around like a stoopid to find other cables that fit.
    any ideas anyone???
i will try the passat ones tomorrow since the golf2 where to short

i see some red up there under the core support

but anyhow, the MK2 golf rear disc cables are the same PN as the rocco ones. i used them on my rabbit last year, for a month or two. i have them still, new condition, if you cant find any....

but you HAVE to get ones from a 16v car, the ones with REAR DISC brakes from the factory....

    hey dudes
today i was drivin around to collect more parts.
finally the front brakes work, only after i spend another 250 bucks for
some brand new corrado vr6 calippers

we mounted the expansion tank and radiators and had a little fun
trying out some different intercooler piping possibilitis(spelling?)

my bro glued the carbon stickers on the dash and installed the radio

you will notice that the radio sits in the slot of the former ashtray...
    no smoking in my car!!
tomorrow seats, belts and maybe dash?!
my bro has birthday tomorrow so he denies the full working effort

i had a similar problem with my g60 brakes on my mk2. they came on a previously swapped car so didnt know exactly what car they came from, not to mention they had no recognizable markings. i bought a few different pads and none fit so i just put the thinnest set on a belt sander until they fit.

    anyway, everything looks great!

at least i am not the only one!!
i wanted to try grinding down the pads as well but i decidet not to
since i could just go back to the dealer and exchange them.
i have still the problem with the ebrake cables even though that i mountd the rear calippers opposite way the cables are 3 inch short
    i dunno whut 2 do

  31. 03-29-2008 12:05 AM #101
tomorrow will get you the part number for mine.... rear brake cables that is

on the cable himself is: Gemo Germany 434 940 196

these worked fine in my rabbit. i removed when i went back to the drum brakes.... i would suggest install cables in the tunnel, and then hook up to the calipers, and LAST attach cables to rear beam.

here are some linkz.... for rear cables.

    http://www.parts4vws.com/catal...09721

this one says for rocco, AND rear disc conversion on any other A1...

    http://www.germanautoparts.com.../40/2

another place IN STOCK of the cables... and this place lists a different length for the golf 2 versus the rocco cables....

they are available out where i am at...

    things begin to take shape!!!!
we put in the dash and the seats/belts rear quartepanels
AND i got my steering wheel in, finally

dont mind the red vent shafts they gonna be exchanged for black, white or blue ones, i didnt decide allready. tell me what you would do. we need to make adapter plates to fit the knee bar... i thought about a nice alloy plate, we will see.
my friend (also called otti) sacrificed himself for the first check of the driving position the gear lever sits in the best possible position to the wheel he said

seems like i have to loose a lot of weight to fit in my seats again
i am a happy guy because tonight we gonna party

i know it is not everybodys cup of tea, but i promise the next project is going to be a complete restauration of a stock gti, since i have nearly a whole car in spare parts
