Hi all, I have just moved to Charlotte form Rochester, NY. I post often on NCDubs and golfmark5. I have heard good things about Chapter 11 and am looking for cool peeps to chill and take photos with. I rolled with "michaelmark5" in Rochester on the regular and miss having other dubbers to hang with. If you don't know his car look him up, he is going APR stage 3 this month.....nasty. I am interested in making some GTG's and photo shoots. Also I posted on NCDUBS the suggestion of a "POKER NIGHT" monthly or weekly or whatever, but was getting ****ty response. What do you all think?
If anyone is bored I am working at the desk at the N. Tryon Midas all f-ing day. Stop by if you want to. cheers

Cool to see you posting here man. I personally would be down for a poker night, esp if its like a $20 buy in or less (hey this is chapter 11 remember!) I'm free in 2 weeks (I'll be up in Canadia eh). You should go down to Charleston with the gang if you're free this Saturday, good people, and should be a fun road trip Oh and I had a stint back at R.I.T. back in the early 90's back when Seabreeze was 'in' and Irondequoit mall was the hotness

good rick, you are as old as I am then!! LOL Irondequoit mall is now the "MEDLEY CENTER" and still sucks it. I am working on saturdays unfortunately 8-2, but will be down for any local night and sunday events and such. Poker night is going to rock, i used to host a small monthly game in ROC, sometimes as many as 30 but usually 8-15, 10-50 buy in, tournament style, NL holdem. I am itching to play live games down here, I want to see what you southern gamblers are all about! LOL Lets see how many others are down and get this thing going.

I live off Providence at Providence Square townhomes. I haven't been downtown (or uptown as you crazy southerners call it) at all yet. I get lost easily, lol. Maybe some of you guys can show me around the city, get a beer or five, and take some photos soon. My Rabbit has 16" biolines (from a wolfsburg jetta) 20% tint all around and I just put a GTI rear sway bar on it (big difference) and put a GTI catback exhaust with the rear resonator removed, so it sounds nasty....but is still pretty stock at this point. I debadged the 2.5 from the back and left just the rabbit logo, and I have NY plates. If you saw me you would know it. I closed on my house in NY yesterday so I will be getting a big check from that and have been in contact with Absolute Auto about doing GIAC 2.5L software switch for 93 octane = 15-20 hp. +tq.

You can easily take a car tour of Downtown (or Uptown) Charlotte is less than a hour. It's not a NYC or Chicago or LA. But, I definitely like it a lot. It's got that city feel, without the hustle-n-bustle of the other bigger cities.

Maybe Chapter 11 can do a hangout one day in Downtown.

Yeah, let's do Happy Hour Downtown.... we can go to a couple of different places to show Jay around, then take some pics at one of the parking decks

Oh, I only know old school poker so someone will have to essplain the rules of hold-em and tournament style. (no I' not hustling)

best way to get your no limit hold em skills up is to play online for free, I play at http://www.absolutepoker.com one of the bigger sites out there. great gameplay and interface, online lets you play a ton of hands (not having to wait to shuffle and deal and talk saves a lot of time) usually you can see 30-100 hands per hour insted of 10-20 in a live game. And if you want you can do a simple creditcard deposit 50 or more and play for real money (I do both). there are all styles of poker on there too not just holdem, so you can get your old skool groove on too!

Sweet, thanks for the link! Oh and Evan at Absolute is a great guy to work with. He did a turbo install on my mk4 when I had it

Uptown tour would be great I've been here 7+ yrs and still have yet to figure it all out (mainly due to a lack of going).

Evan posts on NCDUBS all the time and everyone loves him, plus his Audi is sick. I can't wait to meet him and get my car done. Oh, yeah, if you set up an acct on absolutepoker let me know and maybe we can sit at the same table some night (free or cash). Try "sit and go" No limit tables, it is a tourney style game that is usually done in an hour or less, lots of fun and exp.

That lake wylie spot was awesome. But it isnt as close for the masses as it is for me.
I probabaly isn't available as often as we are talking either.

We should get a larger GTG every month or so, but also have a poker night at different member homes every 2 weeks or so.

(Of course this is coming from the guy who is never in town for the larger GTGs. I promise things will slow down once school starts and I am teaching again.)

Yeah thats what I was thinking on the poker game too. I am down for poker whenever, i think twice a month is great.
I am not familliar enough with the area to have an opinion on where to meet but I would think that we should choose a spot that is receptive to photos! Where do you teach? thats why I moved down here, wifey is a 4th grade teacher in Waxhaw.

I'd be willing to let someone take my $20 once in a while since I suck at poker I'm working on my gaming room upstairs, but until it's done I can't really host at my place. Should be very nice once it's finished though. Putting up tile sucks! Anyone know a good painter / drywaller?
