Bolt...? No... Though two axle nuts from WorldImpex set me back $22 shipped.
Cleaned the threads, all scrapes and whatnot, then a new nut went right in.
The threads are not in their best condition, but the nut fit nicely and tight-
for now, been two days and it's all good, knock on wood... (not to call the devil )

Sorry, I meant nut. Of course that's not a bolt. It was late.

Glad to hear you got it together without having to replace the axle.

      No sweat

As much as I love my car, and I love it the most out of all the cars I had, sometimes I am getting sick of having to fix it most all of the time.
That will be only for one more year (the most) though...

Then again, I have the "fück fuel mileage, white knuckles at 10 and 2" moments (like this morning),
which totally make up for it.

no bueno, man. I think I went and bought a 37mm impact socket for my Mk2. I found if you have a jack stand, 12" extension, and a long breaker bar(1/2" drive of course), you can get those pesky nuts to break with the right amount of leverage.

      Finished building these for it.

15x8 Corrado steelies. VW centers in Chevy truck barrels. Total investment of $150 (cdn) and lots of my spare time.

      ET 30 front,

      ET 20 rear.

Just have to mount and balance the tires on monday.

      ^^^ Those're kewl! ^^^

I, on the other hand, removed my nanny-state seatbelts, and replaced them with some from North of the border versions. Thanks Izzo, for the inspirational how-to, though I can't help feeling something is a bit wonky, out of the box. Seems like the buckle or belt is mis-oriented. At least to my eye.

Mike, in case you need spares for the seatbelt swap - I will have two complete sets for sale pretty soon, one black and one beige...

I think I'm good. Was actually going to replace the slightly corroded belts I got (salted roads - blech!) with a B4 set, till I realized they had pretensioners. Guess I'll stick with the ones I got for now. Still need to swap out the lower section I mistakenly reused from the original setup. The one with the foam backing.

      Dear California,

Why do you do what you do? I thought we were friends, but it's hard to understand when you test me like this. Please tell me why so we can build on our friendship.

      Sincerely,

Haven't double confirmed w/ my own eyes, but my friend immediately said to remove the boot on the hinge & most likely the wires are cracked, worn or just plain old. You on the right track

Thanks. I mounted and balanced the tires and threw them on today. Needed a pick me up after smashing my new (to me) ecode during the install . Gotta find another, until then, its back to craptacular lighting for me!

(Is it wrong that i lowered, built wheels, found summer tires, and have done all this work to my winter "beater"? I might have a problem )

took four wheels that looked like this:

and made them look like this:

for an end result of this (pardon the monster truck stance, there are other priorities at the moment):

now I just need to figure out how to fix this:

the dust is baked on. I tried carb cleaner, brake cleaner, WD-40, nevr dull, and working it harder with the power ball. the power ball seemed most successful, but I can't get it in everywhere and it takes a lot of effort/polish.
