i attempted to do my cold air intake....but the braces in the wheel well kept me from mission accomplishment.
i coulda cut them out, but i dont really want to start cutting pieces off my car....lol.

so i installed a new K&N cone filter and called it a day

I'd ruined my timing, when changed tensioner.

  5. 08-10-2007 09:31 PM #75
Replaced the A/C condenser that started leaking a month after I got the evaporator changed and the A/C working since I bought the car I'm going to charge it tomorrow and hopefully it will be good for a while.

I spent a few hours washing and waxing after all the rain there's been in Virginia this week. Before:

    After:

I also cleaned the MAF filter using this stuff:

This is the first time I've ever done it, and the car has 120k on it. I can't say that it looked all that dirty, but it did seem to have better throttle response and low-end power once I drove it. But who knows? It seems the car always drives better when its clean.

I also ordered some Red Line gear oil last night, so changing out the MTF is next week's project. The original stock exhaust continues to hang lower and lower, so just biding my time til it fails completely (hopefully at night so everyone can see the shower of sparks) and I have reason to buy a new TT catback unit.

Front end rebuild is also on the agenda for September. I think every bearing and bushing up there is on its last legs, so might as well do it all at once.

Cheated on it with a B6, it's looking like the B3 is going to make it to Treffen and then get parked.

I had an accident last week, I had to change the front bumper, but at junkyard I didn't find any good one with silver stripes (I get a 2001 front bumper, for only $30, it's like a brand new one!!)
    so did this:

Yetserday on the way home from work, my heater core decide to let go. I needed to get towed home. I got it home let it cool down for a hour or so, then began to tear down the interior for replacement and cleaning. I ripped out the dash skinm, all the ducts, switches radio, glovebox, center console, and such. Now I am driving around with an bypassed core temporarily, and no interior.

yeah, almost 3 hours of work, but I really wanted them back, I asked at the body shop how much to do that work, they answered me almost $ 200, I prefered to do it my self and I think that I did a good job!

looked at how my previous owner did my headlight setup, and now i want to beat him even harder.....he cut the housing and glued the foglight housing into the headlight.

yes you guessed it, i dont have high beams....only fogs in the headlights....what a f*cking moron.

so now i have to find some new headlights....i think im gonna get the glass e-codes, just got to goto the JY and get the plugs for the high beams.

I replaced the bearings in the passenger's side rear wheel.

Why didn't I do the driver's side, too? Because of course I stripped out the frikin' allen-headed caliper carrier bolts! They've been sprayed with PB Blaster so they can sit overnight and think about the extractor that's coming their way tomorrow.

Changed the gear oil. When I removed the fill plug, a whole bunch of oil came out immediately... overfilled at the factory? Capacity is 2.0 liters, but was only able to get about 1.5 liters in before it started running out. I did run the trans for about two minutes as per Bentley before topping off.

Used OEM gear oil from the dealer, since I ordered the wrong stuff from Redline, and didn't feel like waiting to get it exchanged... If you're ordering Redline, get MT-90, not the 75W90/75W90NS!

You cannot put in what the suggested capacity is,
unless you drain the differential or something.
When I changed it last summer, I was able to put like
a quarter and 3/4 maybe, and that's with the front of the
car raised up in the sky.

Cursed, sweet talked, and cursed some more while listening to ominous sounds emminating from the transmision's general direction.
The thread pertaining to this is labeled "HELP VW Passat Trans Noises." If you know anything useful and posses even the semblance of a heart you'll go post on it. Pretty Please with sugar on top, I'm desperate.
