The title says it all, this has been very popular in the MKV forum, so let me know how I can help.

Does VW sell upgraded rear sway bars for B6 Passats? Or am I totally out on a limb here?

No, but I have heard good things about the Neuspeed

Would it void the factory warranty if I installed the Neuspeed?

It could void the warranty on the rear suspension parts. It all depends on what breaks, how it breaks and the mood of the tech/writer you are dealing with.

Thanks Pleshy. You've been real helpful to me on several threads.

Sounds like I should upgrade the sway bar last (close to warranty expiration) and go for VW Springs and wheels first.

My 2.0t's in the shop right now getting some body work done. The dealer says I need a new radiator support and that it'll run me close to $1k thanks to the labor involved. I checked out the part and it looked okay to me (a little bent) but the manager said "well its plastic, and once plastic is broken you can't fix it. We won't be able to put the bumper on unless this is replaced." Does that sound right?

  11. 08-01-2007 11:53 AM #11
Okay, question: is there an available OEM window shade (side and/or rear) for the 2.0T Passat Variant ('07)? I think the 3.6 has the option for side shades that slide into the door, but I have seen nothing for the 2.0T.
    Thanks.

Took my car in on June 16th and was told my left rear shock was blown out and there were no parts in the "depot." It is now on order but still no part two weeks later.

Are you able to look up parts to see if they are available anywhere in the country? I'm looking for a left rear shock for an 2006 3.6L FWD.

Also, could you tell me the part number for the front bumper (chrome) sensor covers that are on the 4-motion passats? I bought a new grill but need to cover those holes. (If this helps, they are about the size of a quarter on each side of the chrome grill).

    Thanks much

As far as whether or not it needs to be replaced, I would refer to the experts at the body shop. He is correct in that if it is damaged it normally is replaced. Since it is plastic, repair is not an option. The most important factor is that if everything does not work correctly (this includes the radiator support) in the case of an accident, the car will not be as safe as it is designed to be.

When are the a/c compressors supposed to shipped out from national backorder?

How much does it cost to get LeMan or Akiro 17 inch wheels if they were not purchased with the car? Are there other VW OEM 17 rims that might be more cost effective?
    Thanks

As simple as your shock question sounds, there are still multiple choices. I would need your VIn to determine which one you need. Once I have the part number I can check availability. If what you have been told is correct, hopefully your dealer upgraded your order to RED, which is the fastest way to get a backordered part. Even still, best case is 7-10 business days, assuming the part is available from the warehouse in Germany.
Now, for your sensor cover, VW does not offer the cover seperately. The sensors are listed as chorme or primed (paint to natch).

Unfortunately, all I can tell you is the compressors are being shipped as they are available. We have seen a couple trickle in within the last few weeks. I would not anticipate a huge one time shipment, but as they are ready, VW is shipping them out to the dealers.

You have a number of options that fit the Passat. Azurro, Akiro, Goal, LeMan as well as several 18" versions. Of course retail price varies with the different options.

Goals are probably the least expensive. They retail for $199.29 each from VW. Also, they are available in a Silver finish and an Anthracite Gray finish.

I noticed that you are selling them on your ebay store for 169.95 but noticed that there is no indication that they'd fit passats. Do you have them for Passats and if yes, would I have to pay taxes if I am purchasing from out of state?
    Thanks

They do fit Passats, we have installed several sets. There would be no sales tax, just freight.

Thanks. That's great to know. My dealer is checking on some pricing for me on some 17s and I'm waiting to hear from them. They said they would possibly buy back my current 16s which makes it attractive because I don't have room to store four extra wheels in my garage. But if they don't make me a good offer, I'll definitely be buying from you.

Thanks for your reply. I will IM you my vin number for the shock. And to clarify, the dealership ordered the part on JULY 16th.

How much are the sensors? I would hate to have to buy those just to get the covers. I plan on painting this grill anyway, so I guess I should fabricate something instead.

    PM'd you about your shock.

The sensors retail for about $96.00 each. So, if you can fabricate something, it may be the way to go.

Interested in a GTI or R32 steering wheel, whichever has the black stitching, not red.
I have the multi-function buttons and paddles, need to know if they would be usable on that wheel or would I need to order one with the buttons and paddles already.
    Can you price?
    Thanks

Let me do some research and see what I can find out for you. In the listings, there is no mention of stitch color, other than for the Fahrenheit. As swapping the paddles, I think you will have to get a wheel that has this already.

That makes sense- the button modules are probably interchangeable. I think it's the GTI wheel that has the black stiching- so, a GTI wheel with paddles, cost?
    Thanks Bud.

Is the new Ac compressor a redesign? Justy curious if this will become a recall item. If so do you do you know what build dates have the bad AC?

    Thanks

I took a VIN from a GTI here on the lot with DSG, no red stitching...The part number is 1K0-419-091-DD-TDL and the retail price is $700.78.

I believe VW changed manufacturers because their is a part number change on one of the choices. Doubtful of a recall on an AC compressor, since most recalls typically are safety related. You may see a TSB.

That sounds like a cost with airbag. Need it without. Do you discount parts?
