Risse also makes some replacement cartridges for the Rock Shox. Yeah, those are getting hard to find too. I had lost an auction for the similar Rock Shox kit. But now I'll have a newer XC

I need to post a pic of the Zoom Fastrack bars on the bike too![]()
I'm kinda trying to keep it vintage. The Trek Radar computer I had croaked. I liked it, since it had a temp display. Did a race at 102F
Ritchey pedals from that era are pretty cheap now too. I can replace the cheap Performance ones.

Back in the day I wanted to build a wheelset with the new anodized spline drive spoke nipplesNo more stripping the nipples, but good luck finding a spoke wrench in a hurry.

THIS is the bike I was talking about- I thought it was a one-off prototype!

Does anyone have pics of that Cannondale/CODA bike from the mid-late 90's? It looked like a sideways cross- had 4 points- 1 to the headset, 1 to the BB, 1 to the seat, and 1 to the back wheel...It was a "concept" bike that never made it to production, and I never heard about anyone riding it, but it looked cool...

Yeah, it looks like it is sitting in some dudes house collecting dust. What a shame.QUESTION FOR ALL. Does anyone remember the suspension seatposts that were CDC machined? They worked the same way a "thudbuster" does but do it with much more style.
Oh yeah, how about this great idea.

Someone actually brought one of these into work a few weeks ago (I do a part time thing at a local Performance). It still had the battery operated "Smart fork" in the front, with a vertical Azonic stem (never seen one like it). The rear shock was no longer a "Smart shock". It was replaced with some odd Romic looking device.
The bike had some sweet 5-spoke composite wheels, but the drivetrain had been replaced with full Shimano Deore.
And just to point out the obvious, the carbon fibre frame was two separate pieces bolted/screwed together. *SCARY*

those forks were actually pretty bad ass. Really stiff and tracked well. I had a friend who swore by them. Course this was back in 94.

That is sad. I wouldn't take it on any hardcode downhill bomb runs, but I sure would take it out on group or charity rides. I'd treat it like an old exotic car- use it, but gently. The FRANKENSTEM!!! My neighbor had one of those when I was in high school- with the right spring rate, it wasn't too bad. Over time the bushings would wear out and there would be just a little slop, but for the "travel" you got, it was decent. I enjoyed riding it!

I went from a CCM/Canadian Tire bike, to a Trek Jetta edition (bastardization of an 850 frame with 930/850 parts but painted a very nice blue), and finally to buying a used Fisher Supercaliber from a friend. He used to work at a local shop and bought the bike there, sold it for drinking money for school.Same frame as the Trek 9700/9800/9900 OCLV hardtails, and the same frame that Paola Pezzo rode in Atlanta for the Olympics. Is 1996 considered "Olde Skool" yet?
Original spec on the Supercaliber was mostely LX with XT rear and X-Ray shifters... LX canti brakes... Control Tech stem, Ritchey Race Lite bar (cut narrower and less than 120 grams)... and the piece de resistance, a Rock Shox Quadra 21R gummeebear- err, MCU elastomer fork. BUT it was grey, not yellow, it was the year before RS painted the Quadra 21R's yellow and every new bike had one (and the year after that, no one spec'd them anymore!)
Current and pictured fork is from '98 and those were first-gen EggBeaters, plus AC forged cranks with splines to fit XTR rings.
I'm still using the OE LX front derailleur and OE Tioga Aheadset on my new frame. I miss the forest green even if the 9.8 is a better ride.

the parts were at a shop i worked at and collecting dust.. the owner found them while cleaning up before closing the shop down
the bike was never built but i got all the components and frame.. I bought the forks and wheels for $100 bucks and used other parts off my old bike to get it going.

Here's a crappy pic of my time capsule bike. It's a 1995 steel Ibis Mojo, with a steel Amp Research fork, Kooka stem, and XT drivetrain.
The only things I've changed since '95 are the tires and pedals. I replaced my worn out Onza Porcs with a fat set of slicks, and the worn out Onza pedals with Crank Bros platforms.
