There were ones that came from factory, yes.
Best to check provenence though as many have been bastardised...![]()

No I am talking about the wide body. Is it factory like a 996 C4S or is it an aftermarket conversion.

As I said a few post up, I don't mind bastardised ones if it is the 964 conversion to a more retro look of the 70's RS.![]()
#389
......and the turbo-look weighs 50 kgs more and has increased drag attributed to the wider track![]()
Best to get the slim-line one then, looks purer![]()
Wayne, i love the old ones converted to look like the 2.7 RS, but these replicas are very expensive as well, so better off having the real pizza and get the 996GT3![]()

What about the 3.6 on a 964? How strong are they? I don't know why, but for some bizarre reason I love the 964. Got to get myself one of those one day. How much do they go for these days anyway?

I can get you a mid to late 80's model 3.0 Carrera in Guards red with the turbo wing. Does'nt have Fuchs but they're easy to get. Very good condition. Round mid $40's. Could be negged abit I think.

Way, I saw a 964 3.6 turbo for sale here in Sydney last week. Pretty rare for Aust.If I had a spare $170k.....
Not sure how much it should be worth here really?
If I ever get rid of the 928 taking a spot in the garage, then I have the all clear for a 911. Mrs saw my mates older 73 911t and wants one like it, she wanted to know how much straight away and if it was any good.
I think I'll be looking for something like Sloth though, mid to late 80's sc or an 964 c4.

964 Turbo for $170k??? They used to be $110-120k! The 964 turbo is absolutely beautiful btw.![]()

These are normally around $115k - it's the wheels that do it, those gorgeous Speedlines![]()

Despite all the crap we give Klaus, he does know a thing or two about Porsches and 964s. Klaus, is the 964 C2 or C4 a pain in the butt from an ownership perspective?
#396
dual mass flywheel problems.EDIT: 964 is meant to be the hardest and more or less most expensive to service and work on.

The one you really want is the ex Jeff Carter Kremer conversion from the late 1970s. At the time it was the fastest road car in Australia. And he drove it on dirt roads!![]()

A friend from highschool, his dad had a 930 Kremer. He left it out in the drive way all the time and the local kids ripped all the badges off it.![]()

SL Clubsport? 930kg, 270bhp from a rebuilt, carburetor 3.2l![]()

So many Targa's, Vert's and Tips amongst the 911 listings, makes you wonder.I did see a 1988 anniversary edition under the dealer listings last week but it has now gone. Very attractive car in silver but not widebody.
"excessive chassis yaw" is a $176 fine.

I was looking at the add for the white one too over the easter weekend. It's a good starting point I'd say.
my old flatmate mate had a red targa, we used to drive non stop from LA to Colorado during the winter time. 24-26 hours with only fuel/piss stops. It was pretty cold, old and rattly, with trim popping off here and there. Mind you it was a mid 70's car and it was 1991-92 at the time, I'm sure it sealed a bit better when it was new.
He also had a monster white 930 turbo, the seppo slant nose look. Was supposed to one of the quickest in LA at the time. Had some quick fangs in that to Vegas at the drop of a hat

http://www.carsales.com.au/use...ype=3here is the one I was talking about up higher in the thread.
It was at the place in Botany I took my bmw for air-con service. It had $180k on it just before, but they told me he wanted $170k? at least it's negotiable.

It looks perfect

This is disturbing, i dont keep track of this thread cause im not a mad fanboy but i was musing the idea of an old porsche again and lookin at the same ads on the weekend..It happens far too often, the idea usually hits me, i search furiously for a few hours and then realise whenever i see some douchebag in an old ratty porsche/ferrari it makes me instantly think "man that guys a massive wanker"
I promise i wont think that of you tho sloth

It's ok wes, I am not making up for the lack of any appendage by buying one, just making up for that lack of being able to use said appendage these days so I'll drive a Porsche in my spare time instead...![]()

haha, Mrs and I had maxed out the appendage usage and nothing was happening. We gave up and went 911 shopping as a replacement for not being able to have kids.Of course when you finally give up, something naturally happens. So 2 kids later here we are.
Bro in law is looking at a cayman S and guy across the road (I have made freinds with) has been out looking for brand new. They helped plant the seed.

At least we are in difference price ranges. I have the option of selling the Audi and buying a 996, but nostalgia is part of what makes me want the older Carrera (I have this thing for wanting the Porsche that adorned my walls as posters when I was growing up) and I get to keep the Audi as my not too shabby daily driver.

Im selling my Cayman S in a couple of months but am happy to let it go now. Let me know if youre bro in law is serious. Black on Black, Cayman S tiptronic around 2000 kms on the dial in perfect condition.

Haha Wes, I understnad completely what you are going through. I often do the same thing. I have wanted an old 911 for god knows how long (or a 928), but never had the guts to pull the trigger. However unlike you, I don't look at people driving one and think bad things about them. In my case, I look at them and think I wonder how often that car spends in the workshop and that is where my dream ends. Maybe I should forget the 135i track car idea and get an old 911 instead? At least I won't be losing as much money!

I can only hope my passion for the cars overrides any impending disappointment Nick and I also no that there is no chance I could use it as a daily driver, I am under no illusions about that. It will be mostly a garage queen.

this is a guy I know car, he has not spent much on it at all. Pretty much stripped inside with a half roll cage. It goes pretty hard. Maybe my 530i M-sport goes and handles better? not sure, but this 911 is more fun and often feels on it's limit. Heaps more fun.

I had to use the 928 for a week while my car was getting some paint work fixed. I had the baby capsule and child seat in the back. The passenger seat was slid as far forward as it could go and the capsule was still not in right. It had a tilt towards the rear. At least the little guy could see out the back window. At 4 and 2 years of age I think they are both to tall to fit in the back seats now.

Does anyone know the origins of or ever dealth with Motor Gallery Burwood ? They are fairly recent there, in the old Jeep dealership on PArra Rd Burwood. They have a 993 and two 996's that could interest me IF I realise I wanted to go that way, but at this stage i don't but you never know...
