Re: (aussie jimmy)

I have the infection also.
928 was my inhertited porsche, went like mad. could do 130mph on the way home from wollongong, but man was it an expensive car to own.
I have toyed with the idea of a 911 (read 930) on and off for the last 10 years. I couldn't care about the costs involved, just not the right time in our life. Never really has been the right time. My wife and I thought we couldn't have kids a few years before we finally did, doctors said hmmm .. not much chance etc etc, she was test driving 996 instead.
2 of my best friends in the USA have both had a string of them, some very well mental ones too. We have driven from LA to Vegas many times and LA along the coast to SF etc. Once drove 22 hours straight from LA to Colorado in the white 930, got pulled over about a dozen times.
I am just waiting unti a significant B-day to make the purchase, but it will happen.
I have a very large collection of books on both the road cars and race cars as well as vhs tapes etc.
My dream car is a road going gt1. I can dream anyway. I nearly crashed my rental car the day I saw and drove beside the carrera gt a few years ago.
I posted this before a few weeks ago, but this is my friends car he is slowly doing, next are the slotted plexiglass rear windows and inner door skins without anything but the leather strap. He is a type 901 member Oh to be single without kids....

and way, I'm with you man, give me the leaky stinking dual mass flywheel 964 problems anyday.

EDIT : woops I meant type 901 member above.

This dark enough for you? Really crappy pic of my best mate's new car - a 997 Carrera S with black paint job, black wheels, black interior, and black tint. I am planning to take some much better pics when I have time. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

WAY,
Your mate has a HOT car! Still the Aston looks better! Have you two compared car's against each other? Would be interesting to see what you think... http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

here are some old pics from 2000? of my old beast, can call it a beast as it was a 8.

go the teledails. this car went through brake pads almost as quick as it did fuel.
I still have it actually and have not used it hardly for around the last 5 years. It has a genuine 58 000 miles and is a bog stock 79 model.
The front control arms? used to scrape like mad along the old bumpy McCarrs creek road in this thing

Re: (vwlatino)

Here are my Porsche Stories:
When I used to work at ___ , both bosses had 911's. A 996, and a 993, both manual.
Nobody in the office would ever drive them except me, because 1. It was obvious to anyone who watched that I was a car geek, and 2. For some strange reason people trust me.
Around the time I was running a rather large project down on New Beach Rd the cars got serviced at the old York motors in Rushcutters Bay. I would pick up a car, run down to site, then take it back to the office. I was getting absolutely tormented by the project manager at Kell & Rigby at the time and decided there was an easy way of calming things down without actually doing lots of work. It involved passenger rides for the boys. One at a time the Construction manager, Project Manager, Site Foreman jumped in for a passenger ride, which started with an emergency start, and got better from there.
Worked a treat, easy way to make friends....
It also helped that their contempt for my bosses pretty much rivaled mine.
A more responsible story:
Had a nice drive from Auckland to National Park in client's 996 (unfortunately tiptronic), still it was great and the roads around the central north island are superb. I got to drive for about 300kms before the client prised my fingers off the steering wheel.
Getting Scared Silly:
Passenger laps in a real 3.8RS Cup Car around Pukekohe, hit 275 km/h on the straight according to the Digital display. My helmet was clonking on the roll cage the whole way round, and the braking at the end of the straight literally squeezes the air out of your lungs.
Passenger laps in a '74 911 3.0RS replica also around Pukekohe, still got to 250 km/h....
Passenger laps in a 944 Turbo, just as fast, but felt utterly quiet and sedate...

Beautiful http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif My dad's 928S4 was the same colour- agreed it was a biatch to maintain! The paint has held up remarkably well though with your 928.
Couldn't go past the sound of that V8 rumble hehe

Re: (sweatyworker)

Im calling it... Only Limas wife Char has any style... if you are going to get 5 Porsches, you have to have a 356 speedster... or a 550 Spyder. You guys are all too new school. Think beyond the speed, think about iconic vehicles that really cool people drove...
Brandon from 90210... that hot 80s chick out of Top Gun... James Dean... Steve McQueens chick in Le Mans... they knew where its at.
Oh and an black GT3RS for a nice contrast.

Re: (TMK-001)

Yeah I really do love the 356 Speedster, and it is one of the few vintage cars I would buy. However when I thought about what I would enjoy driving more, I had to cull it off my list. Speed, sound and handling wins everytime with me unfortunately. Btw, Martini 917 = http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif .
