All those Pilsners are GREAT for summer time!
Last night had one of the new Stone IRS Belgo/Anise, sadly I had to drain pour this. My taste buds didn't enjoy the Anise in this that much, or it could have been the combination of Anise, Oak Chips and Belgian Yeast. I have two more bottles that I'm going to sit on for 3-5 years and see how it changes.
So after the let down of the IRS, I had one of my Squatters Outer Darkness. This beer is way different than other Russian Imperial Stouts I have had, it was good just different. I have one more I'm going to age. Those people in Utah have some skills!
i was in michigan today for the midwest premiere of Senna, so on the way home i stopped at a liquor store and checked out the beers. these are definitely not what i set out to buy, but they caught my attention and were the only ones left of in their six pack because of the mix-six deals. sometimes my curiosity gets the best me, and i make impulse beer purchases. i got home late and didn't feel like drinking flavored/weird beer, so i'll save them for later this weekend.
Shorts PB&J beer:
Shorts Bloody Mary beer:
welcome to the layer cake
Other highlights from the evening (outside of homebrew -- my DIPA, and guest Robust and Imperial porters) were Dogfish's Squall, a few Mikkelers and your standard west coast craft IPA fare from all over the place.
