Cracked a '10 Stone Russian Imperial Stout, and DAMN that was some GOOD shet! Can not wait for these to age a few years and crack one open and see how they have matured.

I have some '09 RIS also, would be interesting to do a side by side of '09 vs '10.

Tried Ragnarok Smoked Lager by the Elysian Brewing Co very strange beer
I also tried Kronenbourg 1664 not bad at all.

San Miguel beer. A friend from the Philippines introduced it to me recently and man was it good.

Kronenbourg 1664 is very under rated, I enjoy one on occasion.

I hit the Port/LA 4th Anniversary event on Saturday and had a blast, and for $15 is was well worth it. I got to try the following:
Bourbon Barrel Aged Serpent Stout – AWESOME
Bourbon Barrel Aged Angel’s Share - AWESOME
Red Poppy – Fermented with Cherries, AWESOME
Framboise de Amorosa – Fermented with Raspberries, Good not great
4th Anniversary Strong Pale – AWESOME

After we went to Bevmo and we got a few things…
Stone/Victory/DFH – Saison de BUFF
Stone – 2010 Russian Imperial Stout
Marin – Star Brew (Wheatwine)
Port – Hop 15
And some others…

Finally we went to Stone World Bistro…
RR – Pliney the Elder, OMG is all I have to say, freaking AWESOME!
Stone – Russina Imperial Stout on cask with American Oak, same with this OMG!
Stone/Victory/DFH – Saison de BUFF, you taste all of the herbs its like a ballet of flavor on your tounge.
DFH – Aprihop (DRAFT), GOOD stuff!
We also picked up a few bottles of Sawyer’s Triple and a Growler of Dry Hopped Arrogant Bastard, its FREAKING awesome!

So I met some friends today at a new gastro pub in town. It's very L.A. in style and menu, but very Dallas in the amount of beer. All super quality. Anyways, my friends brought along some beer to share with everyone and it included 2 of the most sought after, rare beers.

I started with Avery IPA on Cask. Very nice.

Then we shared Westvleteren 12, and then 2010 Dark Lord. Amazing beers and I'm happy I was able to try them.

Goose Island Pepe Nero - kind of a black belgian...excellent
New Holland Golden Cap - another belgian, also very good

DFH - red and white - interesting at first, then followed by unmistakable cough syrup taste. Got a little more balanced half way through the glass. Meh
Tyranena Scurvy - IPA w/ orange peel - solid IPA, great on tap, loses a little from the bottle

I experienced Firestone Parabola (Imperial Stout @ 13%) on draft last night. This is SUPER rich, Super complex, Super Chocolatey. It was an experience and I sure hope I can find some bottles of this stuff cause its one of the best Stouts I've ever had. It doesn't drink like a typical 13% beer, its very smooth and easy to drink. I could have easily had 3 more 8oz tulips of this stuff but went with an Unfilter Double Barrel on Cask instead, which was also Awesome. All of this went down at the Surly Goat in Hollywood CA, my first trip there and was mildly impressed. The two biggest issues is its way out of the way and there is zero parking.

Not sure if you guys get this or not, but my local Costco is selling cases of 90 min IPA. So I bought a case today. Also got a Flying Dog mix pack yesterday. So far, not so good. I like their raging bitch but these are the generic brews that suck.

Not sure if this is exactly brand new, but I did get to try some of Dale's Pale Ale yesterday while working on the cars. That beer surprised the hell out of me! Probably the very best canned beer i've had.

If you get a chance to have it, do not pass it up.

I'm the GM at a beer bar in downtown San Diego. There are lots of ****ty parts about my job, trying everything we get through here is definitely not one of those ****ty things.

Gave the Saison Du Buff a shot the other night, I didn't think it was nearly as bad as my boss thought it was. Although the keg was super spendy. You wouldn't believe keg prices lately.

Best thing I've had recently? I went to Sierra Nevada Beer Camp in Chico about a month ago, while I was there we tried an Imperial Pils from the fermenter that was brewed by the previous beer class. It was AMAZING. Too bad the only people who will be getting the beer is the Sierra Nevada brew pub, and the accounts of the other beer camp. I could drink that beer all damn day long and come back for more.

I work downtown in one of the most difficult to find bars in SD. I don't want to get too specific, but if you know SD beer bars that may be enough for you.

I wasn't there with Library... in fact I'm pretty sure I was the only member of this beer camp who was actually from the restaurant side. Everyone else was either a distributor or in retail. The Beer Chicks from LA were also in my group, they wrote a book and run beer classes in the LA area.

"We" brewed a locally sourced roasted almond Martzen called the Almond Martzen Project. I guess nuts are a difficult ingredient to use because they kill a ton of head retention, but it should be an interesting beer none the less. Hopefully it's half as good as the Imperial Pils we tried.

I never really thought much about Sierra Nevada before beer camp, after having seen the operation I definitely gained a whole new respect for what they do. It's a first class company from top to bottom. They may not make the sexiest of beers on the market, but what they do mass produce is all solid, and they make quiet strides to be as sustainable and green as possible. New Belgium gets a ton of press about being wind powered and all that jazz, but Sierra Nevada is doing more than it's fair share as well, they're just more subtle about their press releases.

I could keep going about my experience there, but in the end all that really needs to be said is they won another fanboy when they got me out there.

Sierra Nevada seems to have really ramped things up lately...not just the same tired SNPA as the only thing you ever see. A lot of their new beers are damn fine...I definitely have a new respect for them....

Are you in the center of a square and when you leave your establishment trashed off your gourd it's REALLY hard to orient yourself and remember how to get back to the Trolley?
