So, what did you like? What didn't you like? What would you like to see next year? Please feel free to drop down some suggestions, and hopefully, we can make VAGKRAFT bigger and better for next year. Remember though, try and keep it clean

    Ask away.

My buddy was quick to mention a great idea for the awards and the show layout in general:

have a (slightly) raised platform as part of center stage, where the class winners driver up, get their prize, and the audience gets a chance to see the cars that placed.

Along with a podium, you could set the music and whatever else up there and create the epicenter of the show. Could even run the sound-off on the stage, and put the dyno down in front.

Sorta like a concourse d'elegance podium, but friendly to lowered Dubs and a lot louder than Pebble Beach

I would agree with making the event on a Sunday. Make it a day and a half event with something going on Saturday night. Almost like the way H2O runs their show.

The autocross and dyno were fantastic but i believe the time it took to set up each run was a little long. Having to take the wheels on and off could be scarry for some and deture them from running (myself included).

Marketing, Marketing, Marketing....we got to get the word out well in advance!! This is Canada's big ass show and all those Americans know we drive for them so lets turn the table and get them driving for us!

My only real complaint from the first show is how long it took each car to get through the gate. Have a pre-registration package sent out in advance so all you would have to do is show your registration and maybe pay for your passengers.

i will think of more stuff

The only problem I see with that is time constraints.
The judges would have to go and find everyone who placed and make sure they have their cars already to be moved at a certain time.

I think the judging in the Mk1 and from what I hear, the Mk2 class was fantastic. I wouldn't change a thing there.
I did however see some things I thought were questionable with some of the Mk4 classes, but that was brought to your attention on the day of the show, and I'm sure you have rectified the problem by now.

My only other concern has already been mentioned and that was the long wait at the front gate. Maybe a couple more volunteers at the gate would be all it takes to solve that. Plus, I don't think too many people showed up at the requested time, which was 8AM. That is partly our fault as participants.

Were flyers sent out to VW dealership across Ontario? I know the Great Canadian used to do that to get the word out.
I did see the write-up in PVW that you guys submitted. Is there any plans to send some follow-up photos and a story to them?
I think if the main show was on a Sunday, as already mentioned, the turnout would have been larger. We all have to start somewhere though.

All in all, I had a great day and I can't wait for next year.
You guys did a wonderful job as far as I'm concerned. It was as though you'd been promoting shows for years.

I think the $30 judged is ok, but make it a $15 non judged and no t-shirt there would be alot more cars like myself. I don't care for my car to be judged. everthing else about the show was great

When is the VAGKRAFT website going to be updated with results?

  8. 08-29-2007 11:11 AM #8
I'm hoping to get it done by the end of the weekend. All four of us are swamped at work, so it's taking a little longer then we expected.

    Just curious...

What was your final showcar count?
    How about spectators?
    Vendors?
    How big is the venue?

    ...maybe we can help?
Hit me up after the first of the year....

^^ Good guy to partner up!! Pick his brain!!

I was also thinking that it would be good to get VW of Canada to be a sponsor!

Actually, VW of Canada came through this year with swag for our raffle. I'd say that was good for our first year with no credibility. I'm glad they showed faith. We're looking forward to see how sponsors/venders support the show next year. We've already had a good response in that respect. Your feedback will help! Thanks so far guys.

Agreed, and that is the solution we plan to implement for next year, show us the goods, and head on in. And organize a more streamlined, dedicated group to process cars for day-of registrations.

I think if the main show was on a Sunday, as already mentioned, the turnout would have been larger. We all have to start somewhere though.

We printed 5000 flyers and put them everywhere. We hit a few local dealerships, GTGs, we personally walked into just about all the tuner shops around town (and some outside of town) and dropped off flyers.

Thing is, with a first show, the toughest part is getting the word out and convincing the public that it'll be something worth attending. Without any credibility from previous events, people may be a little skeptical. "vagwho? vagwhat? vagwhere? I'll see what people say and maybe I'll come out next year..."

We gave it our all, and we're happy you guys liked it. We want this show to continue to get better and grow and be something that you all will look forward to each season. We learned a lot on our own and already have a list of improvements for next year. But your input is extremely valuable and appreciated.

    Thanks guys

    I have another suggestion.
I think it would be nice to have what class the award was given in, printed on it somewhere.
I get people asking if I won 3rd overall.
