It's a Brazilian restyling of the B2 Passat. Called Santana, this specific look was presented in 1991, and was available in 2 and 4 doors, plus the station called Quantum (USA and Canada had both sedan and station called Quantum).
Mine is a 1994 Santana CLi, Spectrus Grey metallic paint, 1.8L with FIC fuel injection, 90 hp. Absolutely mint, 29k km (about 18k miles) on the clock, just love it

And this is my daily drive:
Also a Santana, but this one is a 2002 Sportline 2.0L 8v (almost the same engine used in A4 Golf/Jetta, but no cross-flow), 77k km (48k miles), third owner, with minor updates (most visible is the HID kit).
Hope you guys like the Brazilian B2 ½ Passats!

Wow. Is it me or these santanas look raised?
#146
They do! In fact, streets in Brazil have lots of potholes, but VW really overreacts to this...Have you ever seen the suspension height of A4 Golfs sold in Brazil? Yes, they're only one step down of a Monster Truck.

Wow! These old-new Vw's look a bit strange for me, but I love the look of the 2.0 Santana.
I just checked VW's website, and they make some other types in your country, what don't make in Europe. I didn't know it.
Another question: Don't you stem from Hungary? Or your parents are hungarian?
Your second name (Szoke-exactly means "blond" in hungarian) sounds very hungarian.

Hi, VR6vik! You're right, my surname is from Hungary (my grandfather, to be exact) from, as I recall, Budapest area.VW in Brazil doesn't produce VW Santana here anymore, but it is still made in China (a little evoluted, with airbags and other stuff). Here in Brazil, we have the New Gol (little bit smaller than a Polo) and other local products. Another example: we still have the VW Bus for sale.
Crazy things

Wow.
That's all I can say. I just went through this whole thread and my jaw just hit the floor.I inherited a B4 Sedan from my Mom (she bought a new car) and I love it! Unfortunately, someone threw egg at it, the car is scratched everywhere, and I'm broke. On top of that, I have no comprehensive car knowledge other than actually driving so all the projects I want to do seem impossible because I don't know where to start.
I really appreciate you guys effort and passion and I hope to join you one day in the ranks of having an awesome V-Dub!

Hello! This is my first post on this Forum so I have to make a short introduction.I found this Forum on the Internet and I really like to see that the Passat B4 made it's way to the Internet through people that like it.
I want to post some photos of my Passat B4 that I have bought recently. I wanted it to be as close to original as it coud be so I went to Germany and searched for one. I wanted with automatic gearbox but I had some hard luck finding one so I had to go with the manual one. So I found this 1.8 litres gasoline Passat that I bought and returned back to Romania.
You are probably not used to such small motors (I read the pages and found plenty of VR6) but big taxes in my country forbid me to buy a big cilindree car.
Anyway, hope you like the photos. The NEA-578P number was the Zoll number from Germany. The red ones are temporary numbers of Romania and the other one is the actual number (if you ever wonder about the strange number notations).
Regards,
Alex
